Need help with girl names - 4th girl

Matilda! Or Julia if you don't mind another J. Or Mary with something more modern, like Mary-Hailey or Mary-Olivia.

We're finding it really hard to pick a name that hasn't already been used by one of our siblings or very close friends. We like: Katherine, Emma, Grace, Sophie, and Charlotte but they're all being used by a sibling or close friend whom we see all the time.

I like Lydia but Dh is meh on it. Dh also has a weird thing about not wanting the girls to have names that start with the same first letter. So we couldn't have an Eliza and an Eleanor, for instance. He thinks they sound too similar.

Any help?

Absolutely everyone knows hundreds of all the names you’ve listed. You already have extremely common names. I know at least seven of each. Why not just pick another one of the ones you like, it keeps with the theme.

OP here. I really like Mallory, do you think it goes with the others?

. No

M is a good choice.

It’s interesting that Mary doesn’t have a longer English version. Marianne is too French. All we have is Marilyn. Or merrylin or marilynn.

You have a Jane so maybe just Mary is just fine.

but you could spell it Mari.

You could do Margaux.

What difference does it make? Jane doesn't exactly go with the others, so go with what you like. It's not like they will go around their entire lives introducing themselves en masse.

I like Mallory a lot! Margot is probably my favorite M though.

Henrietta, Georgia, Virginia would all work.

Georgia!

I think Mallory is fine. It's not like you are naming her Piper or Harper--it's still a more classic name.

I am meh on Mallory. I know two adult Mallorys and both get called "Mal" all the time, which I find especially awful as a Spanish-speaker. It's not like it's an official nickname that you can reject, either -- people just do it the same way the might call Hillary "Hil" or Angie "Ange".

Don't give your DD a name that people will shorten to "Bad".

It is a bit more casual than the others, definitely not a centuries-old royalty name. But if you pick another one of those, together they all seem kinda stuff and dol fashioned. I think Mallory really lightens things up. I like Margot too.

Agree with this. OP if you like Mallory, what about Valerie? It's as close to your style as Mallory is without the strong 80s vibes and "Mal" nickname.
