What makes a lixury car so much better than reg cars

Plus they vacuum and wash your car after each service

OK, but my Honda dealer does this, too. We also have a 5-series. Believe me, I know the difference between a luxury car and an economy car but bragging about car washes ain't it, chief.

Feels good driving them. Once you drive something new and half-decent you're not going back to a soul-crushing base spec or used car.

People treat you differently. When people assume you have some coin and a good career, you get more frequent courtesies and pleasantries. I assume it's a lot like being born pretty vs. being a plain Jane. Life is just a little easier and people are nicer when you're the pretty gal...

which feels better to drive a new top of the line Miata or a new E class? If you prefer sedate, how about an M3 vs. an Avalon?

See I think people might assume I’m a douche. I drive a loaded minivan and I get plenty of pleasantries and courtesies. But I’m also just a nice person and make an effort to smile at people.

Which is really important since most luxury cars will be in the shop much more often than your standard Honda or Toyota.

My Cadillac definitely reduces road noise and felt smoother; I had a generic rental for a long road trip and was shocked at how much louder it was. Service at the dealership was also great, and I preferred the cadillac dealership over my prior Acura dealership. That said when it's time for another car I'm going to try some non-luxury brands to see if there is still such a noticeable difference if you upgrade the non-luxury vehicles.

Do luxury cars truly have a quieter ride? This is something I have been hoping for and can't find. I have a 2018 top of the line Odyssey and everything still feel SO LOUD- the road noise and the noise from the vents, etc.

I am getting read to buy a new car, and wanted a crossover/SUV. Was looking at Toyota, but if a luxury finally gets me quiet, I may do it...

The Odyssey isn't built to be a luxury vehicle. The higher-end trim lines just add more features, but "quiet ride" isn't an add-on feature -- the vehicle needs to be designed that way from the start.

I can have conversations on the phone in my car (hands-free) and people have no idea I'm driving since it's so quiet.

Yes, true luxury cars are very quiet inside. (The Odyssey is not a luxury car, IMHO.) I drive a Subaru, and I love everything about it, except it is so unbelievably loud. A friend has a 7-series BMW, and it is shocking how quiet it is inside. Night and day.

Drive a Mazda Miata MX-5 RF and then a BMW Z4 or a Porsche Boxster, and see if you can tell why Porsche and BMW are so much more expensive. Smoother ride, much better interior setup and materials.

I don't know, I think the PP is correct. I go back and forth between driving luxury and non-luxury cars and have to acknowledge that there is a difference in how people treat you. I personally don't mind driving my non-luxury car but I can see how the status element is important to some people.

I too had a minivan and I miss the storage. But i have an E359 now I can finally hear songs on the radio and speak to my kid in the back seat without telling. The benz also handles very differently from day, my old accord or my mom’s outback.

I hate the cost, but. It sure I can go back.

Yes! DW's Ody is exceptionally loud (road noise) compared to my MDX.

I can do all that in Nissan Leaf Plus. And the storage is decent.

Yes. I’ve driven Mercedes for years and anytime I have to ride in a friend’s Toyota or Honda I’m always amazed at how plastic looking and loud they are inside. It’s a huge difference. Is it worth 2x the price? I don’t know. I do love my a/c seats though.
