Do luxury cars truly have a quieter ride? This is something I have been hoping for and can't find. I have a 2018 top of the line Odyssey and everything still feel SO LOUD- the road noise and the noise from the vents, etc.

I am getting read to buy a new car, and wanted a crossover/SUV. Was looking at Toyota, but if a luxury finally gets me quiet, I may do it...

The Odyssey isn't built to be a luxury vehicle. The higher-end trim lines just add more features, but "quiet ride" isn't an add-on feature -- the vehicle needs to be designed that way from the start.

I can have conversations on the phone in my car (hands-free) and people have no idea I'm driving since it's so quiet.

I don't have back pain anymore after I starting driving a Lexus SUV. Not sure if it is the brand design or the SUV part (sits higher, foot push down instead of forward) that helped.

I have an old Lexus, and the ride is extremely smooth. It still looks current, the interior is plush, and I have very few maintenance issues. I love it. When I get a new car, I will get another Lexus.

P.S. I am short and have short legs.

The 5 series is divine. Powerful and sporty, with a super quiet cabin. If you go with the 5, opt for the multi contour seats. My new one just arrived to the port of Baltimore. Can’t wait to take delivery!

I just adore driving my 2017 Civic with all the finishes and leather seats. It's hard to imagine it could be better and still get such awesome gas mileage.

What year please? Especially does it have the new ugly front grill or is pre ugly front grill?

I don’t have a Lexus, but I do love them. So buttery & luxurious.

Who cares!!! Better is relative/subjective from person to person. Stop trying to judge people for their preferences. You do you.

But the service centers! It’s like discovering the nice airport lounges. Soooo, this is how the other half lives. Nice! Very nice.

I don't know if its really considered luxury but we bought our last Lexus RX350 for $51K (a 2018 when the 2019's were coming in). Similarly equipped Toyota Highlander's were being quoted at $45K the time. After test driving both the Lexus was well worth the additional $6K to us. The interior finishes were far better and the ride felt smoother.

This of course is not a 2X price comparison. But if you want to debate the "need" for a luxury car/suv that costs $60K+ relative to a Honda Civic/Accord than that's a whole other issue - and one that's been beaten to death on other DCUM threads.

I'm assuming you can't also tell the difference between a $500 sofa from Walmart and a $2000 sofa from Ethan Allen.
I'm surprised you couldn't tell the difference between a Honda Civic and a BMW 540.
Here are the differences:
The BMW has a more powerful engine. This translates into a more pleasant ride. It's fun to drive.
The BMW has more comfortable a luxurious seats.
The BMW interior has better material and finishes. It is luxurious and has a better build quality.
The BMW has heated seats, heated steering wheel, cool seats etc...
The BMW has dual zone climate control.
The BMW has a better sound system.
The BMW has automatic self parking
The BMW has a semi autonomous driving feature (traffic jam feature).
The BMW has a better infotainment system and more tech features.
etc..
etc..

I could keep going.

Ok, ok, but we all know what the BMW has that you really prize: "Look at me, look at me!"

On the surface the luxury cars are more luxurious looking than a Honda Civic or CRV. No amount of equipping is making them look more expensive.

I've owned a lot of cars. Mustang, Rabbit GTI, Chevy Blazer (the big one), Blazer (small one) Tahoe, BMW 3 Series, Mercedes 300 series, Mercedes E420, Range Rover, BMW 745il, Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, BMW 3X, Lexus GX460. By far the best cars I've had were the BMWs. The IL was a dream to drive.

I have the Lexus now, which I do love and supposedly is the most maintenance free car, but I don't love the slight play in the wheel that you don't have in a BMW. The smaller Lexuses might not have that play. I've never driven one of those.

My least favorite were the Mercedes or Range Rover.

Yes. People who drive crummy cars don't realize when they're talking on their cellphone while driving it sounds awful. If a top shelf luxury car, it sounds like you're in a sound proof vault.
