But.... why? Isn't he over 70, overweight, and high risk? Shouldn't he just stay home? |
Ugh. I just hope that not too many other candidates jump in this time and we can coalesce around one viable alternative. Although I have a feeling it might end up being Reimer, who comes across as pretty self serving, but at least he’s not Elrich. |
| Ohh no |
| I know we have a million Debbie Downers on DCUM, but let's get real people. Barring a variant that evades the vaccine, we are going to have a large amount of the population vaccinated and additional immunity from those recovered. The numbers are going to be very low this summer. Everybody around us and across the country is going to be relaxing considerably. Yes, some states opening 100% now are nuts, but when the numbers are down and most adults vaccinated, severe restrictions and closures won't stick. I don't know how in the world this statement of his can be serious compared to last summer with no vaccines. It's ludicrous. |
It's just PR/damage control. If Erlich said "we're optimistic about vaccine distribution so we plan on having everything open this summer." that gets small cheers now and by the time summer has rolled around if we are in good shape to have everything open nobody cares because it's business as usual but if things don't improve and everything shuts down people lose their shit. By saying "we might have to close everything down for another summer," he gets a few boos now but if that's true by the time summer rolls around it's old news but if he gets to say "we're doing better than expected so everything's open" all of a sudden people who weren't expecting to have a summer now all of a sudden have one and everyone loves him for it. |
Can’t let that 15 minutes go. |
Don’t worry - Elrich will take pride in being the only county left in the US still shut down. |
VIROLOGY AND RELATED FIELDS POSTER SIGHTING! Woohoo! She’s my favorite basement dweller doomer. |
Hi, massive imbecile basement lie poster! |
I really think that is his goal- to be the best in something. Shutdowns FTW! |
Related fields poster, how does it feel to know people always mock you?
|
| I am at a loss trying to understand his rationale and the point he is trying to make here. So, on one hand he says we are going to lean into outdoor activities because evidence shows higher rates of transmission inside, ok I’m with you there. But what exactly are these indoor summer related activities he’s proposing to open more slowly or restrict. Is he just trying to come for the pools again, which only opened for more than lap swimming last summer because the council stepped in? If so, that is ludicrous. What is the science that suggests outdoor pools were vectors for covid spread? Yes, kids play together at pools but guess what, the kids will be gathering together indoors to attend school in a week and attending camps together in the summer. |

The latest stupidity of Elrich: We were at Cabin John Regional Park today with our 4yo, having a great time. She needed to go to the bathroom and, because of Elrich and Gayles’ stupidity, we had to leave the park because the bathrooms were locked.
What the hell is the point of opening the parks if you’re going to keep the bathrooms locked? |
Just squat and go in the woods! That’s what everyone is doing. They’re worried about confined spaces in bathrooms and poop fumes I think. |
| Elrich is the worst. When can we get rid of this idiot? |
