Yes the Stevenses contributed to Joe’s earliest campaign and met Joe and his first wife. But that doesn’t mean Jill is lying. Referring to the meeting of a future spouse separately from meeting that person in a different context is perfectly normal and consistent with honesty.

The fact that Jill Stevens refused Joe Biden’s marriage proposals several times before accepting him rather speaks to her excellent character - she needed to be sure she would be able to stick with it long term, having already experienced a failed marriage to someone who sounds like he was more focused on partying and having fun in the music scene than on committing to marriage and family. How has claimed numerous times over the years that he was introduced to Jill through his brother after his wife died.
That was a flat out lie. He certainly never said that she and her first husband actively campaigned for him, and she used to babysit for his kids.

He claims that they were very active in his campaign, had been to the Biden’s house socially, and that Jill babysat for his children.
He was suspicious that Jill and Joe were having an affair.

Over the years Joe and Jill have claimed that they were introduced after his wife died.
No mention that Jill and her first husband were active in his campaign or that she babysat for his kids.
