It’s not really nitpicking. Both Joe and Jill have lied about how they met.
Their relationship started when they were both still married to their first spouses.

Nobody really thinks they are lying except people that are trying to save children from the basement of a pizza parlor.

And her first husband who is the one to spill the beans.
Think about it. Of course they were going to lie about it. It would have been
detrimental to his political career to admit they were both married to other people when they met.
Especially considering the tragic death of his first wife. They’ve been telling a false story since the mid 70’s.
There’s no way a politician could have been truthful about something like that at the time.

They can’t defend the lie.
Because they can’t. Everyone is fully aware that what she said and what they have been saying is untrue.
So instead they’ll just attack anyone who points out the lying and scoff that what they’re lying about doesn’t matter or no one cares. As if it’s the topic itself (and not the repeated LIE about the topic) that is the issue.

Look her ex is saying that he and Jill met Joe years before Joe and Jill claim they met.
He is saying that they campaigned for Joe, were guests in his house, when he was still married to Joe, and that he was suspicious that Jill was having an affair with Joe.
Sure the ex could be lying, but that would be quite the lie to tell.

It’s certainly not hard to imagine why Jill and Joe wouldn’t admit that they started their relationship shortly before the death of his wife.

He was suspicious that Jill and Joe were having an affair.

Over the years Joe and Jill have claimed that they were introduced after his wife died.
No mention that Jill and her first husband were active in his campaign or that she babysat for his kids.

They (joe and Jill) also got into a wreck while in Jill’s car. Joe was driving. She was married to Bill at the time.

Not only that, but they could easily have sued him for libel and defamation. That’s a huge whopper of it’s untrue. But instead it was swept under the rug as quickly as possible. There was an election to win! I get that.

I’m with the others though who don’t understand the benefit of Jill wading back into it by openly lying about it again when she didn’t even need to bring g it up. Seems careless.
