Old women can have long hair, middle-aged women can have it, too. It's not some special province of the young.

That said, her hair seems oddly immobile, laid in two perfectly waved planks down over her chest. It looks applied, like paper-doll hair rather than like follicles that actually grew out of her skull. If she didn't style it so ridiculously, it wouldn't create such a jarring effect.
