I think the issue is the hair plus the over the top makeup. If she went a little more natural it wouldn’t look so harsh or like she’s trying too hard.

I don't know much about this 'too old for long hair' thing. I'm guessing that's more of a non-Black thing. However, I find that she looks like she doesn't know how to manage her own hair. Whether it's the shape, length or texture. Last night was the first time I'd seen her without a baseball cap and she had that barrette/bobby pin pushed on the side that looked like it was holding on for dear life.
