Racism has been normalized in this country since January 2017. The grand plan has been to use race politics and tribalism to splinter the country, and turn American against American for political and economic gain. Let's start to get over it now, and think about how we can fix the problem. |
Racism has been normalized in this country since July 4, 1776. |
Ever hear of the 1619 project? |
Yeah, but it wasn't "this country" then. |
The USA is the least racist country in the world. All other countries are far more racist. I’m so proud of the United States for being better than every other country in every way. |
yes, there is. I have heard Hispanic people use the term, too. As an Asian person, I use the term " Asian culture". My spouse who is European, uses the term "western European culture", or "southern European culture" vs "northern European culture". |
I think the US tries harder, but that in part is because we are more of a melting pot than most other countries. |
As an Asian-American (who grew up low-income), I have yet to experience any white privilege. It really irks me that MCPS lumps Asian kids with white kids. Why does MCPS have to suppress one group of kids in order to elevate another? My oldest is a 1st grader, so learning about how MCPS operates has been pretty eye-opening. |
You're saying that, based on what? |
Asian-American PP, do you really believe that there is such a thing as an "Asian culture" that is true for the entire huge continent of Asia with billions of people, 50 different countries, hundreds of different languages, 20 different religions...? As for your European spouse - yes, people from everywhere can make stereotypical generalizations. |
Not that PP but when people I know use the words "Asian culture" they often mean Asian American culture which is something kind of imposed on Asians in the United States since they are lumped together as a census category. |
+1 |
Say what now? Is that sarcasm? Or are you trolling? |
Yeah, and generally when people in the US refer to "European culture," they're white ethno-nationalists trying to justify anti-immigrant xenophobia. |
I feel the same. How about trying to simply elevate all kids? |
