I know he just got a renewed contract, but what would it take to fire him? Is this something only the BoE can do? Presumably they'd be some sort of financial penalty- would they have to buy out the remaining 3.5 years?
I mean, no one in MCPS, Mo CO, Maryland and the US is perfect, but MCPS is doing well for being such a large diverse school system. Why can't you people be realistic about the situation and make productive suggestion. Maybe your lack of productive input to the community is why you need to off load your kids for others to babysit during a pandemic. Maybe we need to get rid of you.

+1. Cases are rising. This is a highly contagious illness that is hard to treat and deadly. You can deal with it and if you want to go back act in a responsible manner to stop Covid.
Exactly! Deal with it and teach your kids to step up and deal with it. You can really help your kids by making them step up rather than complaining with them. I am so tired of seeing whining MCPS parents. GROW the "F" up please and be an example to your kids.

Is hard to get kids to prioritize their education when the rest of society doesn't- particularly their teachers.

As a parent, it’s on you.

In that case, why are we even keeping the teachers on the payroll if they have no responsibility in this. Furlough the teachers, give the parents the worksheets and videos, and wish everyone luck.

Jack Smith should be furloughed first. What is he doing anyway? Nothing remotely meaningful (no pun intended).

Jack Smith is awesome. He deserves a medal for putting up with all the looney DCUM parents.

No one in MCPS provides me with materials I use to teach in DL. Good luck making “worksheets” and finding videos if MCPS goes that route. I’ve spent $400 on books and other materials that I use to lesson plan.

He doesn't bother to get off the couch for virtual meetings. Teachers are working hard. Central office on the other hand has 8 months to come up with plans and ideas and they still have nothing. Everyone on Gude Drive is following the lead of Lazy Jack.

He gets $315,000/year for that. I'll happily do it for $200,000.

Offer it up to the BOE, see if they take you up on it. If so we can revisit in 2yrs and see if you still think the salary is worth it. Especially in comparison to your counterparts.

He has crazy-pants Potomac mom's screaming for his head on a pike because he refuses send teachers and students to their deaths in a pandemic.
