I still don't want anyone near me toking up. It stinks and is disgusting. Do it in your house where no one else has to be forced to see, smell, breath in your disgusting habit.

No. I won’t. I’ll smoke on my porch and you will move.

Republican Trumpkin.

NP. I'm a conservative (although not a "Trumpkin", I'd prefer someone else on the conservative side to be President) and you can't look at us for this. I don't know a single conservative who wants to live next door to people getting high (whether that's pot or mushrooms), let alone do it themselves. All the conservatives that I know would happily ban all drugs with very steep penalties. Getting high is far more popular (and tolerated) on the left. Just look at where in the country drugs have been decriminalized.

LOL sure I know a lot of conservatives who drink, smoke and use coke. They are the same ones who want to crack down on everyone else.

So smoking pot took 43 years to kill your brother?

And? Because that’s not exactly a daming statement about how deadly weed is. I started smoking weed when I was 20. So if the same holds true for me, I’ll be in my 70’s when it kills me. Ok, I’m good with that.

I don't think OP's issue is pot, it's just low class trashy neighbors who smoke, period. We had the same issue on a short-term lease while our home was built -- the scumbags chain smoked cigarettes in the front and back all day, all night. Our windows had to remain closed the entire 6 months we were there. It was awful. I get enraged just thinking about that 6 month stretch. So nasty, so annoying.

Do not start a dispute with rowhouse neighbors over this. Actually don’t ever pick a fight with neighbors, even one 5 acres away, unless it’s an incredibly serious issue. I’ve seen this turn ugly so many times.

Especially when scumbag renters are involved.

I would suggest that those who are fearful of their “pot smoking” neighbors and won’t simply ask them not to burn one outside, move to the burbs.

Why should someone be forced to move if they don't feel like smelling pot. If they are breaking the law, then they should suffer the consequences. We have rules so that we can have an ordered society. More and more, law abiding citizens are being squeezed out by dishonest, selfish people like yourself.

You need to respect others and their place within our community. If you are going to model your behaviors and actions after Trump, then society will break down and it won't be pretty.

They don’t have to move.
They can grow a pair and approach their neighbors in a civil and respectful manner (since the neighbors aren’t breaking the law) and express concerns about the smell and try to come to a compromise with the neighbors.
Nobody’s forcing anyone to act like a skittish b**tch so afraid of approaching the neighbors they resign to move.

We had a neighbor that smoked a pipe outside every night. Hated it. Couldn't do a thing about it.

Actually, not true. You are legally entitled to quiet enjoyment of your own property. If your neighbor is doing something that is harming, disturbing etc, then you can force them to stop doing so. Especially if it was illegal like doing drugs publicly.

It is actually illegal for you to sit on your front porch and drink wine in DC. Your front porch is considered public. I remember people getting fined 15-20 years ago and people being surprised. I don't think they ever changed the law.

NP. But that's just it - you can't force them to do anything. That's the problem. You can try to have a conversation with them or get the property manager or owner involved if it's a rental unit, but if the behavior continues, you have little recourse short of a lawsuit. Or you move.

They must have changed the laws within the last 10 or 15 years then because what you posted is not true. Your front porch is not considered public:

https://code.dccouncil.us/dc/council/code/sections/25-1001.html

You cannot be intoxicated on your front porch, but you may consume alcohol.

From my conversation with attorneys, you could take them to court or threaten to. You can force them to stop what they are doing that is not allowing you to enjoy your property. But have never done it, and it would be a last recourse...

Pipes smell good. Non smoker here, but if I had the patience, I would smoke a pipe. Way too much work.
