IWLCA Open Zoom Call

So, if the NCAA doesn't act, you will still have the IWLCA having already voted to move the date to 7-1-21. This makes the IWLCA voluntary or nonbinding on the coaches and schools, and come 9-1-20, coaches and schools can commit whomever they want. Six days and we'll know for sure, but i agree with the PP that its unlikely the NCAA would act this close to the deadline just to bail out the IWLCA from a bad decision.

Will schools go with the July 2021 date or the September 1 date? Seems like most programs would want to get a jump on the best kids. This hold for what amounts to camp revenue is outrageous and so unfair to the kids.

Coaches know who they will be calling next week if allowed. This game every year and every class is all for show. Once coaches start calling and recruiting, ask yourself, hmm you guys weren’t supposed to be doing much this summer but yet you have just admitted you’ve been scheming all along probably since these girls were in 8th grade.

The pay off is down the road when you see that many of those girls peaked in middle school..which is why “top recruiting” classes don’t translate into championships every year

The dead period didn't mean they weren't allowed to plan. It just meant not contact.

OK, so as it stands, the top 2022's are getting called regardless on Sept 1. The "official" date is changed to next year meaning families will still pony up camp costs in hopes of getting their kid recruited.

Agreed. Also remember that NCAA regulations dont prevent coaches from calling club directors, coaches and recruiting coordinators. Alot of this is much ado about nothing.

agreed this all means nothing and I'd be shocked if anything changes now at this late date as far as shifting to 7.1!

And yes coaches can call and "pan" but they weren't able to go anywhere and "watch'...that is a good point...not that there was anything to watch...this summer there were a bunch of teams cramming in games at tourneys with a bunch of girls who didn't play a spring season and it showed...lol.

Y’all have been entertaining, but the reality is the NCAA did not want to grant any sport-specific exceptions out of concern for the obvious Title IX implications. And they made the right call.

Thanks for the laughs though…

“Don't worry, it will pass overwhelmingly. Boys will still be 9-1-20, and Girls will be 7-1-21 with the 23's 60 days behind at 9-1-21.” (The Fortune Teller)

“It isn’t a violation because IWLCA can do what it wants.” (The Conspiracy Theorist)

“I don't think you understand how Title IX works, and it seems like you are unfamiliar with the recruiting process and its history.” (The “Smartest Guy in the Room”)

“Let's be crystal clear about the rationale behind this change that the NCAA is set to rubber stamp…” (The Insider)

“If you really believe this is a winnable case, you can certainly put your money where your keyboard is and hire a ‘dynamic’ attorney to argue this case for you. This town is filled with out of the box thinkers who would be happy to facilitate a parting between you and your money.” (The “Smartest Guy in the Room” being cool and witty)

“The only harmed parties would be mommies and daddies who can't brag that School A called their daughter on September 1.” (The “Smartest Guy in the Room” being snarky)

See you September 1st.

- Someone who doesn't understand Title IX sharing thoughts about a decision that had nothing to do with Title IX
