What is too old for short shorts?

No matter how many times you say stuff like this you won’t make confident people feel bad for wearing shorts in summer. You’re the one sweltering in capris and judging people while women wearing the shorts are just enjoying living their life.

I'm in my 30s, I don't wear capris. I wear dresses and skirts in hot weather and don't have some kind of delusion that hotpants are the only thing you can wear to not swelter in the summer. People who wear these can be as "confident" as they want, but they still have no taste.

Ok grandma

+1!

I wear shorts with 4 inch inseams or athletic style dresses, and feel great. I'm fit and strong but still have cellulite on parts of my legs. So what? Avert your eyes if you can't bear to look. That's your issue, not mine.

Uh no it refers to the rise. The length of the zipper to the waistband.

4" is the length of the inseam

Because they are comfortable for you and you are burning up and you don't care what other people think? Sure.

Because you think you look "hot"? No.

One of my friends thinks she looks good in shorts because she has a toned body, etc... but she is so thin that her skin is crepey and her face looks super old. Not a good look.

Wow. With a friend like you, she doesn't need enemies.

This comment reminds me so much of Mad Men when a little copywriter really thinks he’s hurting Don and says “I feel sorry for you” and Don goes “I don’t think about you at all.” Think about the mental energy it takes to note all your friend’s physical “flaws” and go talk about them on a message board. It’s the saddest form of insecurity.

The one in the photo doesn't look great, but plenty of women in their 30s and 40s have nicer legs than that woman in the photo. I like the look of a 40inch inseam shorts paired with a sweatshirt, or a cable knit sweater. or 2-inch inseam paired with a simple tee for the steamy summer days.

I am also a mom with kids in elementary school if that matters.

(I don’t wear them to work.)

You do "you" boo!

Me too. My legs (especially my knees) are my least favorite part of my body. My stomach is still flat.

You should wear them anyway. I’m serious. Even the women with perfect legs who look great in them have their snakey friends here talking sh-t about their bodies. Nobody can win, when you’re a woman, someone will always criticize something about your body. Wear the shorts.

My 12 year old says 2 is the cut off age. 😂

I'm not sure a 40 inch inseam qualifies as short shorts!

Oh, please. Her legs are great. Show us a pic of yours, Legs Malone!

If you have the legs for it, go for it.

Also, if they are exercise shorts, go for it regardless. At 48, my legs are starting to go a bit, but I'll probably keep wearing my Nike Tempo running shorts because they are great shorts and I don't really care what people think of my legs when I'm running. (maybe I'll be so fast they can't see me! lol.)

I have a couple of friends my age who still wear short shorts and look fantastic in them. And a few who shouldn't wear them.
