Beauvoir 2nd Grade ERB Results

Does STA not give a numerical score and a statistical value result to parents who have their DS take the test?

No. And they won't give you the results of their crab football assessment either.

Not Beauvoir, but I think we got whole school results for the grade level as well as individual results (and in 2nd grade that would be about 50 kids). Also it's percentiles are broken down in a number of different ways (national norm, privates, suburban). It's worth noting that the total number of questions asked per category is pretty small and that, if the reference group is privates, the maximum score may not be 99% in some categories. I know this because my own kid got every question right in some categories (we also have this info -- # of questions asked, # answered correctly) and, in one such case, I think, was in the 89%. That just means that DC was among the 11% of private school kids who answered all those questions correctly.

We were told that the decision is essentially made based on STA's own tests and that STA will only consider the ERBs if there is still doubt after their own tests. My understanding is that after the tests parents are told a) your child is as good as in, b) there are some concerns, let's see how he does in the ERBs , or c) unlikely your child will be admitted so best start looking elsewhere.

My son did extremely well on his STA test. A few of his ERB subset scores were inconsistent so Beauvoir was called to further elaborate on his abilities. Our December feedback was positive.

He applied for an academic program during his first few years as a STA student and we learned of his admission test score during that process.

Are you saying that you were not told your DS's score/performance on the STA test in numerical/statistical form until years after he was admitted? Does the same go for NCS?

No, this information isn't automatically provided by STA. I found out my son's score while gathering test results and his current grades from the school's office for an outside program that we were submitting an application to.

Just wondering what is considered "good" when it comes to ERBs. Are all stanines 7 good or average?
Anonymous
I don't understand the reference to stanines. Can someone please enlighten me as I cannot attend the parent information session next week. People on this site throw around 8. 9 th stanine, but my DC's report lists say 16/16 or 13/13 or 8/9, not a stanine???? How do I convert DC's results? Thanks

I don't see how that's a fair analogy. After all, the "play date" is subjectively evaluated, but the exam consists of questions that have either a correct or incorrect answer that yields a score.

I am the OP of this thread. I am pleased (and relieved!) too.

Happy for the pleased and relieved parents. Were you surprised? Do you think the scores reflect your DC's aptitude? Still wondering what constitutes good for ERBs particularly for outplacement.

Sincere Congrat's to you and DC. I know it was a loooong wait for them. By chance did your DC's results give a stanine or is that something they tell us at the parent meeting?

Thank you. The results give a percentile, stanine and a sheet with a narrative detailing the marks on each section of the test and whether the child exceeded, met or is developing in an area. Hope this helps,

The mask *for* each section.

So I guess that I am missing a page if all I got was a letter from the school re: the meeting nest week, a sheet explaining the subtests and a sheet that lists number of correct answers/total answers and whether that was "exceets" or "meets" . I don't have anything that lists a percentile or a stanine.
