It seems like they are only testing people experiencing actual complications. Which I kind of understand, you don't need the entire city to be showing up to the ER for a minor cold just to confirm whether or not you are infected. Just stay home until you are either recovered or need to seek medical care. |
Didn’t watch the presser - are they even contact tracing for this guy or nah? Sounds like he was out and about from last week until he was hospitalized this wk so I’m thinking they’d like to know where he works, if he went in, did he go places on the weekend etc? Also different question — where was the AIPAC event? Was there a conference hotel? |
has anyone else confirmed this? |
Convention center - in the heart of DC. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/03/06/aipac-conference-coronavirus-123158 |
Who has that much sick leave, especially if you happen to be working class or in a service profession? Their boss will expect them to come into work sick. |
Has this been verified by anyone? Or is this just another Pence lie? |
Patients are most contagious when showing symptoms, they are now saying |
My understanding - having read everything I can on this recently - is that they really need to test extensively in order to get a handle on the scope of the problem. They can’t make intelligent decisions about school closings, businesses shutting down, etc unless they know the scope. Obviously closing schools has a host of downsides, but if the alternative is a lot of people dying from an overloaded health care system they might need to pull the trigger on it. Without data, they are flying blind. |
Yep much bigger problem in service industry/working class. Lots of white collar jobs including mine have told us not to come in even if we just think we have a cold and feel ok to work. Yet this is the privilege of people who can telework, take a day off w/o losing pay etc. |
Adding that having everyone go to an ER probably isn’t a good idea, what Korea is doing with drive by testing seems really on point. |
Exactly. |
Is this new? This is where it started like 6 wks ago for those of us who were following then and then it became - oh no asymptomatic spread totally happens. Where did you hear/read this? |
I thought that link would be a petition. But i'll go add my anonymous voice to the anonymous thread nonetheless. YES THEY SHOULD! |
Right but by going to these testing facilities to be tested for minor symptom such as a fever, which can be caused by literally a million different illnesses, you have just exposed yourself to a waiting room more than likely covered in it. |
