| Ms13, sanctuary cities, high taxes, loony liberalism, overpriced housing, bad traffic and people with horrible personalities. |
Just out of curiosity what comes to mind when you think of Russia? Let me guess... Home |
Hmmmm. Well I do enjoy polar bears a lot more than ms13 gangs cutting out the hearts of people in public parks. Moco loves them some ms13. |
| Russia? Actually, MoCo comes to mind. Ha! |
| Easy commute to DC comes to mind. Older homes in established neighborhoods. Numerous beautiful neighborhoods. Lack of endless new/used car lots. Buy a car and not pay taxes on it every year. Drive on any lane on any highway and not pay a variable cost to do so. |
| Decline and mediocrity. Faded commercial areas like White Flint. Inability to attract and retain major businesses. School system where over 2/3 of the schools are now really bad. People in pockets of privilege bearing most of the tax burden and working overtime to convince themselves they aren’t suckers. |
| Whiners and haters. |
| A place that, frankly, has its head stuck in the sand and believes it's still the late 1990s. |
Have you been there lately? |
|
MoCo's problem is that it's stagnated economically, and the quality of life here has started to decline, albeit slowly.
I agree with the PP that the county has its head stuck in the sand. The same thing can be said of the entire state of Maryland, unfortunately. Also, the sense of superiority in MoCo (i.e. "we're better than everywhere/everyone else") doesn't ring true anymore. It might have in the past, but it's outdated today, and it's impeding the ability of the county and state to wake up to reality. We spend so much time making fun of Virginia, but Virginia is leaving Maryland in the dust. Petty name calling won't change that. |
| The big dog in the DC area, hence the jealousy and the hatred |
Yes. An old mastiff with a growing number of health issues. |
| Beggars on every corner |
Hardly. Can’t hold a candle to Fairfax or Loudoun. This is why they won’t let a bridge be built. Everyone would go work in nova. |
