+1. Pediatrician spouse, and we send our kid to school with mild symptoms (only one cold so far this year, kid doesn’t get sick often). |
FULLY agree. Spent most of my daughter's childhood handling asthma because people brought their obviously sick kids out. One NURSE brought her coughing, snotty, son to an indoor play activity and when I confronted her, she said she was 'sick of being home'. So you bring him to a group to play that obviously sick? |
+1 We send our kids as long as the fever is under 102. We give them Motrin and they are fine. They are just sitting at school so they get rest and aren’t bored |
As a child care provider, you should be getting a flu shot every year. It isn’t full proof, but you symptoms will be milder if you get the shot and then get the flu. |
That’s ridiculous for known carsickness. My 2 year old gets carsick every time we drive more than 30 mins. It sucks. She is perfectly fine before and after the car ride. We travel with wipes and extra clothes. It’s awful but she’s not sick. When this happens a lot you learn to tell the difference. |
Stop making excuses. It’s part of the responsibility of having children, no matter how you came to be a parent. Grow up and deal. |

Can anyone cite to any evidence of the claim that people are most often contagious before showing symptoms?
Personally, I don’t believe this. I think what spreads the germs is the puke and the snot, and those things are most likely to be distributed when you’re most symptomatic. |
Well none of my immunocompromised friends are dullards so they certainly do know that viruses are a part of life. |
Wut |
Don't do this. A fever of 102 is no joke and they are not "fine" just because you gave them Motrin. Do your job as a parent and keep them home so they can actually rest and not spread it to others. |

Many WoH parents don't have access to childcare for sick children or flexibility to work from home. This is the reason in many people some parents choose to SAH.
Then some parents don't give a damn either. |
| Wait, once you start antibiotics for strep, you basically feel fine. OP and her family won’t “still feel terrible” on Christmas if our several experiences with strep are anything to go by. |
| There are some people who should not have kids on this thread. |
Are you trolling? No doctor recommends this - I have multiple pediatrician friends who are also parents to younger kids. If you’re being honest, you fcking suck, dude. |
