True. And they got there, without being elected, because white members of Congress placed them in that role. Are you suggesting that as a model that you’ll like to return to? Taxation without representation or home rule, or local voting rights? I guess if you’re fine with that, appointing a mayor for DC — who lives in MD fits. |
Ooof, someone is triggered. This whole post reads through as someone who's miserable and very bitter. |
Double privileged then. |

Actually it looks like Raskin is in a pickle. https://www.marylandmatters.org/2021/11/04/md-citizens-redistricting-commission-finalizes-congressional-legislative-maps/
Takoma Park and most of Downtown Silver Spring will be in District 4 along with Prince George’s County. The district will be D+95 so it’s the safest D in the universe but it will be probably 85% Black, and Raskin is white and Jewish. The rest of MoCo will be District 8, and some in 6. The far upcounty is probably not enough to compete with a rural R so that district will flip and MoCo will be represented by a Republican. That leaves the 8th with Raskin vs. Trone. Will Raskin win a primary running from outside the district and without his Takoma Park/Silver Spring base? I can’t believe I’m saying this but progressive hero Raskin appears to be in trouble. |
| No way Trone beats Raskin in a democratic primary in Montgomery county. |
Could Trone potentially keep D6? With northern MoCo, it looks like parts of Potomac, Clarksburg maybe, Darnestown…. And Frederick City, could that be enough to overtake the rural R vote with a moderate like Trone? |
I mean, I’m sure he’s a nice guy and all. But he ain’t real woke. |
Ugh hope not. I voted for trone but would much rather vote raskin if I had the choice. |
