Jamie Raskin has certainly elevated his profile during his time in Congress. He's beloved at home and somehow maintains excellent constituent services while kicking ass on the oversight & judiciary committees and among the top figures in the impeachment process. He is universally respected as a brilliant constitutional scholar and brings no BS. His takedowns of the Trump administration in these hearings have gone viral.
Also interesting is that he is one of the few that brings the progressive and the centrist or establishment wings of the Democratic Party together. He is friends with both Pelosi and AOC. Everybody loves him. Most notably.... he learned to comb his hair. Where do you think Jamie is headed? Could he be in the running for a leadership position...or more? All of the other Maryland congressmen seem like backbenchers compared to him. Including Steny Hoyer, who at 80, should retire since he brings nothing to the table. I'm rooting for Jamie to do something big. |
| His ceiling is county executive. Unfortunately no one needs or wants a takoma park resident as anything more than a rep in a specific zone. |
| how is this person still only 57? feels like he’s been around forever. |
| He’s brilliant - GDS, Presidential Scholar, Harvard College, Harvard Law, noted Constitutional law professor. He would be ia great addition to any ticket, or at least a front runner for Attorney General. |
Uh, have you not seen him in the national news lately? He is on the way up. I don't like how he's combing his hair, BTW -- not that that's important. I prefer it crazy looking. |
True! I know someone who dated him in late 80s (didn't turn out well_/ |

I think Raskin is awful and full of ego.
I also think he accurately represents his district. Pretty much everything he's done as a Rep has to do with being anti-Trump. Impeachment, the Emoluments clause, 25th Amendment, he is all about the #Resistance and hating Trump. Which is why he accurately represents his constituents in the Bethesda Maryland Swamp of liberal elites. So I'll give him that. |
| His approval is definitely not “universal”. |
+1 This is totally the poster who wrote that they were 'honored' to have JR as a GDS alum
|
He's a Takoma Park person. They love him more than Bethesda folks. |
| When he did the rally in Silver Spring with AOC as the featured guest, I wrote him to tell him if he swings that far left, he's going to lose many votes from his district, including mine. |
Yes I'm sure that's the message that voters are sending him. Not the 700+ packed audience that went to the AOC event plus the waiting list that was twice as long. |
+1 I'm so glad some democrats have the backbone to stand up to Trump ass-kissers and defend the American system of government against them. |
Good to hear from you, Jamie! |
He can afford it. He won with almost 70% of the vote in 2018. |
