what is your high school class valedictorian doing?

Anonymous
We had two valedictorians. One majored in actuarial science and is super duper high up at one of the huge insurance firms (think Geico/Allstate/etc). The other majored in biomedical engineering and now is a R&D VP at one of the big biotech companies. The third is a pediatrician. All are married with children and seem happy, so that's good. All went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

We grew up in a very middle class suburban area outside of Green Bay, WI.

Oof, the pediatrician was actually the salutatorian ^^

Mine works for her family business. Was born rich, and is still rich and her class rank was largely irrelevant to her life.

My what is your high school class valedictorian is doing just okay, making $59,000 dollars yearly, I would of thought she would of gone to wall street and make millions but I guess I was wrong.

It’s “WOULD HAVE” or “WOULD’VE”!!!

Gah! Drives me nuts.

One of my best friends. Rural high school. She got a degree from an Ivy that people here don't like. Worked in computer science for a while, now a SAHM.

valedictorian: PhD from top school. Works in big pharma.
salutatorian: MD/PhD from top school. Research with lab in nationally ranked hospital

I went to a no name public school in the rural southwest. This is why I think the high school craziness in the DMV area is absurd.

I’ll bet they had well educated and wealthy parents? Most rural high schools have one or two that escape because of that.

But yeah, kids here will be fine.

Am I the only one who does not remember who my class valedictorian was?

My HS graduating class was huge with a lot of very smart students at my school. But I am completely drawing a blank as to who was #1 in my class. Granted, it's been 35 years and I've never attended a reunion.

Same. My class was 600+ ppl. Our valedictorian didn't give a speech or anything like that, either.

I went to two high schools, only one of which had a valedictorian. She was all set to go to one Ivy, then had a change of heart and called an Ivy she'd rejected to see if she could go there. She did. Eventually she became a doctor after going to med school at a third Ivy. She practiced for a few years and then committed suicide. Really sad.

I seem to remember one or two kids speaking at our graduation. I couldn't begin to tell you who they were though. They did a good job but they were typical "we can do anything we put our minds to, the future is ours" graduation speeches.

Ours tried to be a partner at a law firm and didn’t make it. After being pushed out, she’s now been a sahm for six or seven years. She posts a lot of complaints about the tediousness of driving everywhere, etc
