We didn’t have them but did have a top 10% - called ______ Scholars. I don’t remember who the boys were in the group but of the girls, 2 are doctors, one is a pastor and the 4th works in a library.

The valedictorian at my high school is now a doctor. We are still friends.

My dh was valedictorian at his high school—also a Doctor.

Neither of them actually want to be doctors anymore.

Our high school valedictorian was a hugely competitive asshat who dated my best friend and always forced her to give him blow jobs because he was afraid he would get her pregnant. No idea what he’s doing now but I feel sorry for whomever he married.

So much of this needs to be weighted by the quality of the high school you went to, and to some degree what your parents did.

Doctor who was the daughter of a doctor? Pretty standard bath?

Middle school teacher who was the son of alcoholic unemployed parents?

Most of the rich private equity and hedge fund and entrepreneur kids at my school were "A" students, they either did the Ivy League Econ/Gov track or something quantitative (e.g., engineering at Berkeley).

She has 2 kids now, same dad, not married and lives in our small hometown working at a small bank as a teller.
