Blah blah blah blah. I look forward to hearing about you getting red-flagged. |
I hope that process doesn't get abused. I can see people people who dox others using red flag laws to harass people they don't like. All the more so since firearms aren't registered so authorities have no clue who actually owns firearms and who doesn't. |
I agree that there needs to be a culture shift and money won't accomplish that completely. We can use money to fund anti-poverty programs and also attracting businesses to those areas. Actually funding job training for rural, suburban and urban impoverished should be a priority. Housing should be a priority. In rural, this means structurally sound housing. In urban and suburban areas, this could mean not aggregating low income housing income area and going after predatory land lords. I don't having an attitude of superiority due to educational attainment helps anybody especially those living in poverty. |
So you're threatening to report people who don't own a gun, as owning a gun? Aren't you nice
|
Anti-poverty programs? Funding for job training? These are nice catch phrases that sound more effective than actual implementation of them tend to be. What businesses are you going to attract for a job pool of candidates that very often don’t even graduate high school? If America as a whole went back to becoming a country that actually manufactured things rather than import them, then yes, this would be a fantastic idea. But that’s not the case, and tax dollars from NoVa are not going to be able to make the sweeping changes that could lead to a cultural shift there. That’s going to take more than NoVa dollars. |
No I am saying that since firearms aren't registered, a red flag law can, and will be abused by vindicative people. There need to be other laws to prevent that. I don't want to see cops going into other peoples houses just because a neighbor's dog pooped on their lawn. |

I just think there is great irony in someone who is pretty clearly an R voter saying that when Ds win, they shouldn’t have a “we won, get over it” mentality.
Because sure, Rs have been governing as moderates? Get bent |
Well then when police serve their warrant on me because some gun nutter tried to have me red flagged, and they don't find any guns because we don't own any, then I'll be sending a fed flag petition back to the person who filed it on me, along with my lawyer, with a civil suit. You ammosexuals have no idea who you're messing with. We know how to make your life a living hell. And we will. |
Why do you presume that poster is a gun nut? It's pretty reasonable to make sure that Rd flag laws aren't abused over petty slights. |
| petty slights like threatening another human being's life? |
No. I think the proposed law is rife for abuse based off my reading of HB1763 as submitted during last years session. Furthermore, we don't know who actually has firearms because there is no registry of firearms. Thus, putting officers, and the people subject to the Red Flag order at significant risk. Given the history of how red flag laws have been abused in other states, it is something that needs to be carefully implemented. |
| Can you please share an example of how they have been abused elsewhere? |
Google can help you with that. A man gives an NJ doctor a bad review after surgery, the doctor iniates a defemation lawsuit over it and uses NJs red flag law. He later admits there was no threat of violence given. Petty slights confirmed. |
Bring it on snowflake. We are everywhere. I was a bit surprised at first but Im pleased from the support I've seen coming from my fellow residents of Falls Church and Arlington. |
One guy? Um, yeah...ok |
