Is your son uncircumcised?

I have a 10yo son. Not circ and no issues. He’s an only child and has seen his circ cousins. It’s a non-issue.

Gosh, my sons aren't circumcised, but the idea that it is "mutilation" strikes me as uneducated at best (we're not talking about FGM here people) and anti-Semitic at worst. Europeans are known for that too.

Male circumcision is not very different than certain forms of FGM. Educate yourself before you spout off. If you consider all FGM mutilation, then you need to consider male circumcision mutilation as well.

I am educated on the matter. Spoken with medical doctors (not just weird websites written By anti-religious bigots or wellness gurus) for clarification when researching the subject. The point of most forms of FGM is to deny a woman sexual pleasure. It can cause lifetime pain, urinary problems, labor and delivery problems. Male circumcision is a totally different ball game.

The point of male circumcision was to remove male pleasure from masturbation. Pop culture may have forgotten that, but that is why it's popular in the US. Now it's just popular because it's popular.

I was unaware that circumcised men masturbated less than uncircumcised men.... In fact, that actually seems like a good reason to circumcise.

I have not noticed my circumcised DH having any problems in the masturbation or "ready to go" department, that's for sure.

Circumcision has also shown to greatly reduce transmission of HPV and herpes. However, it has not been shown to have an effect on syphilis so there's that, but syphilis is curable. HPV and herpes are not.

5yo, not circumcised. No medical reason to, his body his choice. Seems my friends who circumcised are actually in the minority

but more than a 100 will experience phimosis and need to be circumcised, bet those more than a 100 parents really wish they circumcised in infancy. Actually, it’s about 0.6% of all uncircumcised males that will require surgery in later life.

Phimosis hardly compares to a risk of death or genital loss.

Because God knows soap and running water are so rare around here.

Anonymous wrote:The aesthetic thing is so strange to me, because there is really not much difference in my experience. I dated a guy for YEARS before I realized he was intact, because as soon as he was hard the foreskin retracted and you couldn’t visually tell at all, nor was there anything remotely different during oral or intercourse. And (I now realize this is probably because he was uncut) he was always ready to go at the drop of a hat. I guess we were never ones to walk around nude so I never really saw it not hard. He never mentioned it because he assumed I knew, but I honestly couldn’t tell at all! It randomly came up in conversation one day and I was absolutely shocked because I had always been led to believe it was some huge deal or really gross or something. It’s actually just... not a thing at all. Totally like any other penis. Looking back though, he was an amazing lover, so maybe there is something to that.

This is my experience as well...I just don't understand the aesthetics argument. Penises are kinda strange looking, and they're not made less so without foreskin. And when hard, they look basically the same. And yes, always ready to go, and SO much easier to play with/give a good handjob with the foreskin. The only con was not lasting as long due to sensitivity. No smell, no smegma.

My current boyfriend has a botched circumcision. There's a strip of skin about a half inch wide that is still attached. It's not a big deal at all, but it definitely makes me rethink the benefits of circumcision.

Please read upthread about what the science actually suggests and where these matters are relevant. You call others ignorant but you seem to struggle with logic and with basic reading comprehension.

Two boys ages 13 and 11, both circ’d. I’m a former RN and worked with a lot of HIV patients. It doesn’t matter if HIV is prevalent in the region, it matters if it’s prevalent in the person one has second with. I believed in the science - health related benefits of reducing likelihood of disease transmission - and I also recall working with pediatric patients who had multi-day hospital stays for circumcision at an older (pre-teen/early teen age).

The “uncut” son of anti-circ parents we know was recently circumcised at age 11. He was out of school for about a week and out of sports for something like 2-3 weeks while he recovered. It was apparently a very unpleasant (and humiliating) experience for him.

We circumcised our son, most of my friends didn't. It's never ever come up and no one cares one way or the other besides psychos on the internet.

We chose not to circumcise our twins when they were born. We figured it would be best to let them decide for themselves later on if they want to be circumcised. We are now up in arm as if we should chose to circumcise our third son. DH wants to but i just don't feel right about it. We know a few friends that didnt circumcise their sons and some that did.
In the end it really come down to our decision but im curious to who chose to circumcise their son(s)?

We didn’t circumcise our son. He’s six now. I just didn’t feel right about doing it to him and neither did DH who is circumcised.

My now-adult sons are uncircumsized, like my dh.

It was actually never a topic of anything during childhood. Like, never. I'm glad I didn't do it.
