Science ignorance is bliss |
You are ignorant and have obviously not traveled much. The rest of the world outside the US, except in Muslim and Jewish population/geographical areas do not circumcise routinely. |
It may also reduce the rate of (rare) penile cancer and possibly cervical cancer in women. We circumcised our son. We also have our kids the hpv vaccines. |
Have = gave |
NP. And old white people, yeah. |
Doctor here. I did circumcise my son. I realize that HIV prevalence is lower here, but circumcision can also reduce other infection transmission rates that would not only impact my son, but also his future partners. |
We circumcised after talking to an RN friend of ours. She said she'd care for many boys that had to have it done because of infections and other problems, and said every she now recommended circumcision for everyone. |
I really don't get this "reduce infections/stds" thing. The easiest way to avoid getting an STD is to not have sex with people that have STDs. Teach your sons to respect themselves (and their future partners) enough to be selective in who they have sex with.
We don't do this with other medical issues! "oh there's a chance my child might have an eye injury one day, so we're just going to go ahead and have her eyes gouged out at birth." "We're very concerned about cavities and dental health, so we'll remove all his teeth now as a newborn." |
get a circ. don't be eurotrash |
Okay, sheeple! You should probably go put some more tin foil on your windows. |
+1 If the rate of STDs, penile cancer and other (less serious) infections were such a big problem, why hasn't it become standard procedure in any other developed countries? Is hygiene practice here that bad? |
I mentioned to my almost 7 year old DS that we chose not to circumcise him, and he said he was grateful. ![]() On the other hand, sometimes I worry that he'll have issues with adhesion, because he doesn't want to pull the skin up, he says it's uncomfortable. Most likely it'll be fine, as he gets older this may well self-correct. But it's a chance you take when you don't circumcise. |
Risk of death from bleeding only happens in babies with underlying blood clotting conditions.How many cases of genital loss have you heard of in this century in the US? |
The risk of infant death from circumcision is about the same as from SIDS. We do all sorts of inconvenient things to prevent SIDS death. But yet so many choose voluntary surgery on their child’s genitals for minor/questionable health benefits while downplaying the risks. |
My son has hemophilia, while we didn’t know it at birth, we chose not to circ and I’m so thankful that we made that choice.
