And now the Post reports he sent a resignation letter to Pelosi today. That should set up a special election.

Pete Sessions, who lost his Dallas-area House seat last year to Democrat Colin Allred, is moving to Waco to run in a nice safe red district. Bill Flores, the retiring Republican who holds the seat now, said “I wish he’d called me first.“

Hmmm maybe Pete Sessions is reconsidering this run after today’s news?

Yes, that was curious timing. It doesn't seem like the indictment of those two was timed to torpedo Sessions' new campaign, that was just a side benefit.

(As a former constituent of his, I'm pretty disappointed to hear about all of this.)

Wow, super D district, should be an interesting primary. Also Ds will need a new chair of the appropriations committee.

Rep. Francis Rooney, the Republican of Florida on the Foreign Affairs Committee who’s made news this week because he won’t rule out impeachment, just told Fox News this afternoon that he’s retiring.

Rooney won Florida’s 19th district, which includes Fort Myers, Naples, and Marco Island, 62-38 last year. Probably not flippable.

House Committees Fundraising Update:

The DCCC outraised the NRCC $12.9M to $7.8M in September and ended with $12.3M more in the bank.

The DCCC started the cycle with $9M less in cash in hand, but surpassed the NRCC for the first time in July.

Republicans haven't led a single generic congressional ballot poll taken since the 2018 midterms.

Old, rich, white people who received a serious federal tax cut. Nope. Not flipping.

Another Republican House retirement: Greg Walden - longtime Oregon Representative who chaired the NRCC and the Energy & Commerce Committee — is retiring. He’s the 17th GOP House member and the fourth committee leader to call it quits this cycle.

District encompasses all of eastern Oregon, so most likely not flippable. Walden won last year 56-39 in the closest race in his 20 years in Congress.

HUGE decision that will most likely result in 2-3 flipped seats from R to D - North Carolina’s State Supreme Court has thrown out the current Congressional map. Last year the votes for Congress were split 50-50 but Rs got 13 of 16 seats because the state is so heavily gerrymandered. Needs to be redrawn for 2020.
