Exactly the issue. As long as Republicans aren't proposing or supporting meaningful Bill's to ensure mental health screenings for gun owners and gun buyers, as long as they aren't proposing a robust mental healthcare solution there really is nothing more they can say about mental health. |

why are we quibbling about suicides by gun? Seriously, wouldn't even gun owners want to reduce that number?
The guy who wrote that book "Dying of Whiteness" that the white supremacists showed up to scream about did a fascinating podcast with Chris Hayes and talked about gun suicides. And how without a gun in the home, attempts are way less effective. And that having that method available in that first hour when you have the urge to kill yourself is a huge problem. Not having a gun available would absolutely bring down those suicide numbers. |
Exactly! Getting guns out of homes of people suffering from depression and PTSD can save many lives! |
| Why isn't anyone posting statistics about the 50% decrease in homicides over the last 30 years? Anyone living in DC back then? Didnt think so! |

I lived off 14th Street and Adams Morgan from 1982 - 1988 and it was a war zone. Helicopters at night with their spotlight frequently flashing over my home looking for bad people abound. Very rarely did I walk the dog after 11pm. The snowflakes who live there now (wink at the owner of this board) would never consider the hood DC used to be. |
