Should McLean Pre-ECNL players consider Spirit DA?

I think that was already answered. They didn't have more than 16 available to play for Spirit. It's not like they had 40 great choices and decided to keep it at 16. Tryouts were sparse.

And for a couple of McLean 08s who would otherwise be playing in NCSL next year? Who cares, you take the higher competition level and the development opportunity.

Exactly the point here ... this seems like a good opportunity because the 07s in McLean will go into ECNL over GDA at either WS or ARL. I love the idea of GDA over basically another year of WAGS. When are WS Virginia sessions??

I agree. Tom is very responsive, and there are visiting players regularly out on the field. By participating, you and your daughter can get a sense of the academy structure and the coaching. The best way to see if any team is a good fit is to join a training session, not to rely on ID days.

NCSL, while far from lowly still does not have A teams from the bigger clubs. It is pretty understood thta NCSL has small club A teams, (still very good teams) and the 2-4th teams of larger clubs. Beyond the first division of NCSL the teams are just average.

the top mclean pre-ECNL u11 / u12 Green teams play in ncsl, but with the C teams from other big clubs (Loudon, arlington). also the bottom gold and silver teams from mclean play in those same ncsl divisions. why would any u10 girl look forward to that next year, and again the year after??? explain it to me.

EDP is the wild west and does not necessarily offer any better competition. In our region it suffers many of the same problems that NCSL suffers from. You have to travel to far North for the competitive strength of EDP to matter.

So after U9 and U10 in CCL, Green players go to the 9v9 pre-ECNL format, but in NCSL, and for 2 years of it. How is that "pre-elite development" to go blow out all these teams in weekend games, especially since NCSL does not start putting teams into competitive divisions until U13? What does a current U10 player do? Washington Spirit doesn't take 2009s for next year.

Who says they aren’t focusing on style of play? NCSL just isn’t very competitive.
