Stars Lacrosse Club

My DD will most likely not be on the top team so how does that affect my choice? I have had a travel team experience with my other child where the lower team was treated like crap. So I don’t want that again.

My DD played on both Pride and Stars B teams and we thought Stars was a better overall experience - better players and more year round options. But yes, still B teams and the better resources and focus on both go to the A teams.

The notion that the Pride lacrosse program and teams are better to or even equal to the Stars lacrosse program is false. The teams are, in order of competitiveness and ability: Stars blue, Pride red, Stars black, Pride white. This is not in any doubt with anyone who is familiar with both programs and is based ample, long-term evidence.

The teams for both programs do not play at the same level (A) in tournaments. Stars blue is always in the highest bracket. Pride red is not.
Stars is included every year in the most prestigious invitation-ony showcase, the Nike G8, for middle school clubs in the country. Pride has never been invited.
Girls who leave Stars for Pride are always girls from the black (or B) team and move over to Pride red (their A team). Multiple players have made this transition. No Pride B team player has ever moved over to the Stars A team.

As fr the poster or posts who insists that Pride red beat a Stars blue team recently. I can attest that over the 3 years my DD has played for Stars, no Pride red team has ever come close to beating a Stars blue team, although their meetings are limited to indoor games due to the failure of Pride to play in a Spring league and the fact that Pride red is never in the top bracket at the few tournamets both teams play in each year. The poster may be referring to a 3rd, 4th or 5th grade team, in which case Pride red may well have beaten a Stars team. Stars doesn't start separating girls by ability until 6th grade and only has one team prior to 6th.

Additionally, every year approx. 24-26 Stars players make Capital lacrosse (blue and orange) the best local high school program, while typically the number who make it from Pride is approx. 4-6.

It's really not worth getting worked up over--they're 13-year-olds, but the 2021 Pride red team has in fact beat the Stars blue on more than one occasion. Again, no big deal, but since you seem concerned about it, I thought you should know.

Stars 21? All the good players have left.

Both programs are average, I’ll stick with M&D

Stars is only a middle school program. It ends at 8th grade.

All of the Stars 2021 blue players now play for Capital and half the players from the Stars 2021 black team made Capital as well. Only 5 girls from Pride 2021 made Capital so any claim that a Pride team ever beat the Stars 2021 blue team is highly suspect.

There is no longer a Stars 2021 or even a Stars 2022 so all the players left.

Ummmm.... hello... Pride 2023 Red beat Stars Blue this year in a "A level tournament." And it wasn't the first time. (And not a 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade team.)
They were in the top bracket for many tournaments this year. Also, will be in the spring league next eyar.
I, for one, don't think it matters too much, but it bothers me the way you state all your points as if they are total fact. They're not. Don't be so sure that Stars is the only worthwhile team in town. At least be honest.

Yep, Stars is pretty overrated. And the parents are awful

Meh. I've had sons and daughters (some attend public and one who attends private school) play for Madlax, VLC, Prospect, Pride and Stars. I think most of the lax parents I've come across are obsessed and obnoxious at least 30% of the time but if I'm going to stereotype, the ones who go to private school are the the worst - doesn't matter gender or club.

Oh let’s bash private schools, how insecure you must be

This is just patently untrue and ridiculous. Plenty of people with talented kids have them play Pride for lots of reasons, sometimes because they don’t want to trek all the way to Alexandria, sometimes because their friends play Pride, or they just like the program. And it’s simply untrue that Pride never beats Stars in a top bracket, wherever this information is coming from, it’s wrong.

I'm the PP who said 2021 above. I meant to say 2023--I have a child in both grades and just said 21 by accident. It was this past year's 7th graders that I was talking about.
