Luxury white SUV as status marker

Why do Honda and Toyota owners demand that everyone on the planet drive Hondas and Toyotas?

They don't, they are fine with Prius and Subaru's etc... they just like to HATE on people that drive luxury brand vehicles, especially SUV's (which if you follow the news are now selling so much more than sedans that car companies are dropping many sedan models from production). I suspect these are the same people that like to frequently refer to most homes over ~$1.6M as McMansions (whether they fit that generalization or not). People just like to pretend they are buying more affordable cars and homes because it's the right thing to do. In reality, if most (not all of course) of these same people suddenly inherited $10M I bet many of them would suddenly be driving luxury cars. Everyone can claim otherwise, but I'm convinced most people would.

Hmm, we live in a neighborhood with those prices and plenty of people have Honda’s, Subaru’s and Toyota’s and many luxury cars as well.

I think some people look at a car as something to get them from A to B and less about want it says about them as a person.

I don’t care what people drive. And, I like reliability and low cost maintenance. I don’t have a commute and I generally fly anywhere over 2-3 hours by car.

I didn't know this was a thing. But I'm not surprised. If I win the lottery, I will buy a Tesla Model S in white or blue.

My next car will definitely be white with tan interior, but not luxury. My current car is gray with black interior. It's hot as hell during the summer months.

What color would you prefer? Maybe bring back turquoise or sparky purple? Looked great on gremlins and el caminos!

Anonymous wrote:This is a funny trend I’ve noticed in my office and I’m wondering if other people notice it too. Every obnoxious wealthy woman above 40 in my office (sales environment) drives a massive white Mercedes, Audi, or Range Rover. I am talking about ~15 people, not 2 or 3. Most of them have no kids or one kid. I have no problem with white cars and no problem with these women, but these cars just seem like very silly status markers trying to make a statement about their money.

I am umc 40+ woman with one kid and drive a small, sporty white Lexus SUV. Yes, it's a status marker. It's fun, luxurious, and perky.

DC is backwoods. Manhattan/South Hampton is all Tesla all the time.

what happens with the tesla if you need to drive more than 300 miles? serious question.
also - those doors look back to the future ridiculous. is there an option for normal doors?
other than that, I like it.
in white.

Is a Lexus 350 RX considered a luxury SUV?

Yes. A $50-60k car is more than most people will ever be able to comfortably afford.

Spending that on what is basically a Toyota is stupid.
