8 hours of screaming on a flight

He wasn't just screaming, but running around the aisle and climbing on seats and playing with the overhead
Was he screaming while climbing?
No he was quiet. His screams got worse because the mother tried to change behavior. This kid obviously has serious delays. And people are being very cruel to him and his parents. Flying obviously stressed the heck out of him.

I'm sure he was annoying to listen to, but I feel worse for the parents than the other passengers.
No one was being cruel. He was allowed to scream, climb, and run for the entire 8 hours.

Read the online comments about him--"demonic" and "rampage." Same words to describe mass murderers.
Most likely he will end up ten years from now in the news after killing everyone on a plane!

The passengers should have counted to three and screamed in unison, "SHUT UP BRAT"!

Sleeping pills would solve the problem.

Those poor parents. They likely have to fly back with him. Obviously the child has issues and this is not a discipline problem. Its hard to fly with your kids. There but for the grace of God go we. That article was cruel and shortsighted.

I'm more worried for the poor people on the return flight.

I'm sure that would have been effective.

Oh my god, I feel so sorry for that mom and her little boy. I hope she's got the support she needs.

ha ha, good luck with that. I'm SURE telling him off would make everything MUCH better.

Most flights from Germany to the USA actually head north over UK and Ireland, then south via Canada. Only about 50% of the flight is actually over water. Here's the routing: http://www.gcmap.com/mapui?P=fra-ewr

Get real. Go look at the map yourself. Just where exactly do you suggest they land a lufthansa jet of that size on short notice? Gatwick much to the south, was their last option.

Plus, landing in a third country would be very tricky. Imagine if the family wasn't cleared to fly, but also didn't have a visa to the country they were in.

I cannot believe you are excusing this nonsense.

Not excusing anything. Fox "news," New Zealand and British media outlets use the word demonic. This kid is non verbal; it's obvious. Screaming is his way of communicating.

No, it didn't, it quoted Townley, the woman passenger who made the video and described it in the video as "demonic". Fox ran it with her quotes. http://www.foxnews.com/travel/2018/02/15/demonic-child-throws-8-hour-tantrum-on-lufthansa-flight-in-viral-video.html

That said, the kid needed to be sedated. Some benzodiazepines would have gone a long way.

I know a PP was upset at that suggestion “f*ck you” but that is standard treatment for a child or adult who is likely to have that sort of off the charts reaction to a flight or other travel that is necessary

The poster used the word “tranquilized” which is generally a term reserved for wild animals, so a F off is totally appropriate.

By the way if you read the full Fox news report two posts above you will learn this occurred in August of 2017 and Townley, a male artist from NYC who made the video and dubbed the child "demonic" never filed a claim with the airline. It's at the bottom of the article.

Be thankful you don’t have a child like that. Have compassion for the parents, who have as much right as you do to be there. Put your headphones on and take a nap. You probably annoyed the hell out of someone at one point as a child.

This. I feel horrible for the parents. The passengers too but it is much more painful watching your own child in this condition.

That's why most people wouldn't put their child in that kind of situation.

Pp and you think they were on a 1 week vacation? May be they traveled for treatment, may be for work, it’s nice and dandy to say you would never travel, but not everyone has the luxury to avoid travel.

Tranquilizer is equally appropriate.
