The commute from Alex/FFX county is not far. I don't know why everyone thinks it is.
OP-if you plan on sending kids to public schools, I'd consider moving. However, if you can swing the cost of Bishop Ireton (or SSAS for more $$), I would stay. You seem to like your neighborhood and your kids are happy. |
this is a board for moms! |
Wut? |
Is that a bad thing that one spouse doesnt't work? Good for the Langley PTA. Last time I checked, their PTA fund has over 250K |
+1 (though I didn’t read the linked articles) |
no, but poster should know that. a 2 working couple would not fit in. Herndon has PTAs at night so all can join. Langley/Mclean have them during the day so the stay at home mom can go. no one has to work. |
This might shock your bigoted little brain, but some dads stay home as well. |
The McLean HS PTSA meetings are typically at 7 PM in the evening. |
|
Nope. OP - your kids are thriving and you are happy.
Who cares if the schools have a high Niche number? |
Not many. May be 2 out of a group of 200 women. It is still primarily women that stop working |
The number is irrelevant. Just like saying this is a "board for white people" if one were discussing, say, hockey in Northern Wisconsin isn't cool. It might be true that there aren't many blacks playing hockey in Green Bay, but if there's one, then theyre included. Unless, as I said, you're a bigot. Now, should I be surprised that there are some gross ass, gold digging, unemployed, bigoted SAHMs in Mclean? I think we all know the answer to that. |
This a completely false assumption. Yes there are many SAHM in McLean but there are just as many dual working parents. My kids go to an elementary school in the Langley pyramid and I know more WOHM than SAHM. How else can people afford those expensive homes? There is a core group that attends the morning PTA meetings but most parents just don't go. |
They also have them at night. They mix it up so everyone has a chance to make a few. Not everyone works 9-5 either. |
Isn't it funny how one person gives false information, but it plays into a narrative that all Langley/McLean families have one stay at home parent and no one with working parents will fit in... And then we find out that the initial statement was wrong. gulp. All those stereotypes have to go out the window. So, Langley/McLean parents are a lot like everyone else. Imagine that! |
It is true that most kids have a non working Moms in Mclean, but no one will judge if both parents work. If you want to do PTA just leave work for an appointment for a few hours. Mclean schools and neighborhoods will be better for your kids and save $$ in the long run. You should move from Alexandria. |
