Breaking: Debbie Wasserman-Schulz' IT staffer arrested while trying to flee US

Anonymous
Funny how quickly the defense used the "Muslim", "pizza-gate" and "alt-right" card so fast? The dude falsified a mortgage application and the FBI is trying to keep him in the country and get him to talk about the bigger fish in this story - DWS and Clinton with the smashed computers/blackberries. If you can't see that, then I have a healthcare plan that will save $2,500 per year that I want to sell you.

Statement on the Imran Awan Case

Washington, DC: The attacks on Mr. Awan and his family began as part of a frenzy of anti-Muslim bigotry in the literal heart of our democracy, the House of Representatives. For months we have had utterly unsupported, outlandish, and slanderous statements targeting Mr. Awan coming not just from the ultra-right-wing "pizzagate" media but from sitting members of congress. Now we have the Justice Department showing up with a complaint about disclosures on a modest real estate matter. To an extent, the situation speaks for itself.

Mr. Awan’s family is presently staying with extended family in Pakistan because he and his wife were both abruptly and unjustly fired, leaving them without a reliable source of income to pay typical U.S. living expenses, and because extremist right-wing bloggers were beginning to harass them and their children—even going to their children’s schools. Mr. Awan has stayed in the U.S. to earn some income to manage this situation as best as possible. He attempted to travel this week to see his family for the first time in months. The government had been informed he would travel and had stated no objection. Yet on Monday night he was hastily arrested at Dulles airport.

Because we are confident in the integrity of the U.S. justice system, we are confident that Mr. Awan will soon be able to clear his name and get on with his life. Neither Mr. Awan nor his wife have ever had any intention to “flee” the United States. They are U.S. citizens who have built a full life and have a strong community life in this country. They will stand and fight whatever charges are presented. Once they have prevailed, we will have a chance to more closely examine the ugly political and media dynamics that have driven this controversy from the beginning.

90% noise, 10% information that relates to the case.

Indeed. The moment the line is 'anti-Muslim bigotry', you know they are guilty as hell.

The reporting has discussed smashed hard drives. Where are you getting smashed computers and Blackberries? Perhaps from the "Pizzagate" crowd?

Nearly as bad. Do you have a link to the article? I only see them mentioning hard drives.

Imran Awan, a Pakistani-born IT aide, had access to all emails and files of dozens of members of Congress, as well as the password to the iPad that Wasserman Schultz used for Democratic National Committee business before she resigned as its head in July 2016.

Anyone who does not find this very disturbing is blind.

He's their IT guy. Do you expect him not to have access to their devices and accounts? I work in a very prominent gov't office and guess what? Our IT guys have access to all the digital devices and accounts of the super senior people here. Because that's their job.

I'm sure the FBI will investigate this guy. If he's illegally transferred data or leaked information, he will be prosecuted.

You don't find it even a little interesting that the Chair of the DNC (whose emails were hacked) had a crook for an IT guy? And, likely was doing IT work for the DNC?

From an article linked in that thread:

"Soon after Imran began working for Wasserman Schultz in 2005, his two brothers and two of their wives — plus Abbas and another friend — began appearing as IT staffers on the payrolls of other House Democrats. Collectively, the Awan group has been paid $4 million since 2009."

Sounds fishy. Until you pull out your calculator and figure they are talking about 6 individuals and 8 years worth of salaries for 6 people. They were each paid a scandalous $83,000+ a year.

Maybe there was something odd going on. But I work with Pakistanis and Indians where both spouses are in the IT field and working for the same employer so it's not unusual.

I still don't understand how they had time much less inclination to run car dealership on a side? How many IT people do that?

^^
also if they are accomplished IT professionals with clearances why didn't they look for other jobs? it seems from the statements that they immediately gave up on living in the US despite being citizens?

And, renting out houses and insisting on cash or checks to someone else......probably, they are also tax dodgers. Wonder if they paid taxes on their rental income? I suspect I know the answer.
