No Matter Who You Are Tell Me When You Think Our Current Form of Government Became Dysfunctional?

And MSNBC and CNN don't misinform those who don't follow your vision lock, stock and barrel? Please, people migrate to the news source that best supports their viewpoints. You are not different in your selection of MSNBC. GTFU.

I'm so sick of this "liberal media" argument. No, actually, intelligent people read a variety of sources and think critically. They are able to distinguish between talking points, opinions, and fact. And just b/c facts don't favor your argument doesn't mean there is "bias." Climate change being a prime example. The vase majority of scientists agree it's happening and why. But the flat earth crowd doesn't like it so it's "fake news" or "biased." And they are given equal time to say so in the media. When their position is not valid. All because of kowtowing by media to not appear too liberal. It's revolting.

I blame the spiral downwards in politics to the disgusting group on the right during the Clinton administration. They went in to those years aiming to bring as much chaos as possible (read the accounts of the calls Bill C. received prior to running from politicians on the right.) Clinton had some major personal flaws, for sure. But, the vitriol, the bullshit investigations (some warranted, much was not), the right lean on social issues . . . those folks made people feel ok with their prejudices, nastiness, and smear campaigns as a method of doing business. Gringrich and his ilk are the worst of this country. This continues today with Ryan, Pence, McConnell and others. No.Shred of integrity. It's win at all costs. Party before country. I loathe every single one of of the and will now be a single ticket D voter until I die.

I agree that Gingrich did a lot to damage the political system. The Contract with America was ridiculous. The remember Bob Dole saying that whatever was happening in the House, the Senate Republicans didn't have a contract with anyone.

No US college graduates need apply.

This coupled with the push for more globalization has resulted in hire incomes for the 1% and lower incomes for the middle class. Add to it that the US Business schools are creating more MBAs without ethics. No moral code, every man or woman for themselves. Gov is just a reflection of how big business has screwed the US.

You are wrong on many levels. Globalization is gonna happen with or without US driving it. India and China are not just any countries. These are two historical giants that have been around for over 5000 years and they have a huge market. When they open their economy it sucks in hundreds of western companies eager to sell to 2.5 billion strong market. Once that happens then the western countries lose the leverage on who drives globalization. The control simply went to China which is the real driver of globalization today.

With the arrival of internet the same companies now have option to pick talent for low wherever they want and the local talent can get themselves any certification through really good online education. So the barriers to knowledge became motivation not money or access or the right country or right race.

What are you gonna do? Stop internet? Or Ban US companies from selling in China/India? When china/India allows market access they get their pound of flesh, which is market access to their companies in the US. You try to kill their market access they will kill US companies getting market access. The net loser will be the USA with only a tiny 5% of world market. There are millions of jobs created here directly due to global access to sell products by US companies.

LMFAO. You must not have been around during the Clinton administration.

I think he kind of deserved it. And I am the D pp. At minimum IMO he is someone who abused his position to have affairs with women who were vulnerable. And I voted for HRC exuberantly.

I'm talking beyond Monica. And, no, the hysteria, single bent on destruction circus did not fit the crime here. Especially when it has come to light that those on the impeachment team were guilty of many of the same transgressions. That makes them hypocrite to boot.

No, he didn't. Ken Starr was supposed to investigate the Clinton's investments into a failed business venture in the 1970s and 80s. Clinton ended up being impeached in 1998 over a lie about a blow job. I listened to the impeachment proceedings as they were going on. It was absurd.

To be fair I was like 11 at the time and grew up with R parents So I cannot say I remember those proceedings in any meaningful way that wasn't colored by my household.

BUT I can't bring myself to feel that bad for him. He is/was a scumbag, regardless of whether that was grounds to impeach, I don't cry my eyes out for him.

OK, but maybe you should cry your eyes out for us, who are now living with what the Gingrich Republicans wrought during the Clinton administration.

Ok? I don't really understand what point you're making. I was just saying I think polite discourse towards the office of the Presidency is important. The first president who seemed like a fairly decent human being (to me, and that doesn't mean decent president just decent human) who got just torn to pieces by the press was W. But that perception might be tied to my age. But clearly SOMETHING has happened in the last 20 years because now we finally have a true monster as President who can LITERALLY brag about doing what Clinton got impeached for and still get elected. Something has gone awry.

I'm a little older than you (HS and college in Clinton Admin), and while I agree that Clinton wasn't unassailable, it was clear that the attacks on him were outsize. People just really didn't like him from the get-go, and I maintain that the unprecedented role and attitude of Hillary was a huge factor in that. I grew up in an area that hated them, and Hillary was demonized from day 1.

Just thought I'd revive this thread (and yes, I am the OP) since on the eve of July 4th, 2017 our government has become even more dysfunctional since I started it. Between the WWE twit and the Chris Christie beach shots it really seems that we have reached a new low. How do we dig out of this hole?

I honestly don't know. Impeachment of trump would help but we would still have a Republican Congress and a very divided nation (due to propaganda). I think we are doomed, actually.
