That's just ridiculous. How can you type that with a straight face? |
The teacher here. Summer vacation accounts for a two- three month drop in reading and math skills (very well documented). Summer slump accounts for almost all of the achievement gap. Not that one week really matters, but a governor who cares about education would push to shorten the summer vacation and spread out vacations similar to other countries, not elongate the summer. |
Another teacher here. I completely agree. The long summer break is NOT useful. What we need is a shorter summer and perhaps longer breaks during the school year that would allow for a bit of recovery during the school year. |
No he hasn't stood up for Trump, nor did he endorse him. And yes, he is a Republican. At some point the voters in this state have to stop identifying with a party and do what's right for our families and our communities. I have people in my country complaining about the development, about overcrowded schools, about illegals in our schools disrupting the learning process, etc. You voted for this stuff because you voted party instead of person. Consider what the individual stands for, not the party. |
Um, Hogan stands for development. He is a developer. |
| Polls have him winning in a landslide |
I'm a MD Dem but the healthcare fiasco in MD was created by Brown. . . I hate that Hogan won't stand up to his party and focus on moderate Republican issues that most Marylanders care about, i.e. immigration and climate change. |
He's a Pro-Business Republican, sweetheart |
+1 I'm a Democrat and am voting for him. |
+1000 I am a Montgomery County Democrat who likes Hogan and I will vote for him again. Common sense needs to prevail, not political parties. Voting simply because someone is a D or R is simply irresponsible. |
+1 Are you for real? I don't care if you vote for Higan or not, but please, please, come up with a better reason than his party affiliation. |
| Seven pages and still waiting for someone to point out one concrete accomplishment of the Hogan administration. |
anyone who puts stock in polls conducted more than 1 year out with no defined opponent should have their head examined. |
He demonstrated his support for Ocean City by requiring all school boards in Maryland to set their school calendars based on the perceived needs of the Ocean City economy, rather than the educational needs of the kids in each school district. Before Hogan's executive order, there was a grand total of one school system in Maryland that started after Labor Day. Guess which one? |
|
I voted for him last time, will not vote for him again.
Not enough action on common sense policies that would help the whole state, too much action on issues like schools starting after Labor Day. |
