| He's one of the most popular governors in the country. No doubt he'll be reelected. |
Out of those three, only Delaney has a chance. If they nominate one of the other two, it will be Kennedy-Townsend or Brown all over again. Considering the "my turn" nature of Maryland Democratic politics combined with (and I hate the say it) their diversity fetish, it will probably be Baker. I have nothing against Baker, however there is just no way that he can win statewide. What's his point, his agenda? He has none. Couple that with the stench that is hovering around PG county politicians that he cannot fully distance himself from and it makes his bid even less likely. But Maryland Democrats aren't too bright, so Baker it will be followed by 4 more years of Hogan. |
What a thoughtful analysis. Truly inspiring and brilliant insights. |
Code for: Black candidates |
Yes, because only white males should be allowed to hold the office of Governor, right? I'm all for best person possible, but come on, what if the best person possible who decided to run is a minority? Get over yourself... |
And what is wrong with that?? |
The idea is to bring those places up, not drag the rest of the state down . |
|
Also, stop this, "X Party runs this person..."
No, the candidates themselves are running on their own accord. It just so happens most of the states powerful dems, those with CLOUT come from either, PG, MOCO or the City. Do you honestly think a Democrat from Alleghany County is going to have clout and can win over a Democratic base such as Maryland's??? |
| Hogan's favorite hobby is cutting education funding. He also aligns closely with Betsy DeVos on vouchers, tax credits, and charter schools. He makes it very clear that public education is not a priority in Maryland. |
No, but anyone who values transparency and good governance knows that many PG politicians are tainted. |
Ok. So how is Rushern Baker "tainted?" Are you aware of any scandals he has been involved in? |
He just so happens to be from PG County. In the eyes of most here, that makes him unfit to serve. |
This. He's certainly not in a league with Trump, but he clearly sides with businesses and not the majority of residents of Maryland. Yes, I do think he handled his cancer treatment well (I also worked through chemo and radiation when I had cancer), but that's certainly not enough for me to discount his disregard for the environment and education. |
Nope. I am the pp. Would gladly vote for a black candidate from MoCo or any other area of the state. There are racists out there, but I am not one of them. Baltimore is a wreck, and while PG is doing better than they were a few years ago with corruption, I'd prefer not to vote for anyone who was around during that time. Maryland needs a break. For the record, I will also not vote for any Asian, White, Hispanic or Other politician from Baltimore and PG. Which is why I posted. Stop encouraging these candidates and encourage candidates from more successful areas (and less corrupt) areas of the state. Basically, this is why Hogan will be "easily reelected." I don't hate Hogan, but I don't want to vote for him or another Republican for governor yet again. |
Again, where are the most powerful candidates coming from? PG and Baltimore. Whats so hard about that to understand??? |
