I'm the person you quotes, thank you for that link. I thought i had read this before. |

| ^^ Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. I find Allison homely and very unattractive looking. I agree with the pp that said she looks like a Simpson. I thought of Mr.Burns when I first saw her. |
| Has no one else noticed the way Alison's appearance changes depending on the character whose story is being told? |
Yes, they do this on purpose. I think it's accurate. The men all think she's looking very sexy, in these negligee things, and Allison just thinks she's wearing PJs. I think this is fairly representative of differences in men and women, especially someone who is very attractive like Allison |
I totally get it. Allison is a combo of the bad girl and the manic pixie dream girl. She's damaged and aloof, and will break your heart, and many men absolutely love that. Just like women love the male counterpart- why do you think so many romance novels feature the dark and broody dude with a bad past? There's something everyone loves about that person who is completely unavailable, and I actually think it's exciting to see a TV show depict the inner workings of that character, instead of just fetishizing them like in 500 Days of Summer or Elizabethtown or anything else. |

Well, it just proves that men are stupid and led around by their penis. Because Cole has a good thing going in his life right now and should have the sense not to go that far with his ex. It's sheer stupidity.
|
So the writers are doing their job. This is supposed to be a controversial show. |
| Its not remotely controversial. Only in 1950. |
Wow you must lead an interesting life! |
It is, given the numbers of women who hate, loathe and despise Allison and go insane whenever Cole shows interest in her |
haha, that's not the definition of "controversial". Anyway, there's like two banshees on this thread who repeat their hatred of her physical looks over and over. That's just "tedious". |
|
I don't think it is too much to ask that he not fuck his ex wife. Sure, he probably still has feelings for her. I get that. But to follow through when you are remarried? Not acceptable.
I don't think that is a 1950s mindset at all. But, again, I expect the men in my life to have more sense than that. Apparently, the men on this show lack the ability to reason with anything other than a penis. |
But if Allison is as "ugly" as you all claim she is (which is, quite frankly, laughable- I highly doubt the woman would have gotten to the top of hollywood if she was unattractive- or gotten the role. So often women do not understand what men find attractive) then he is not thinking with his penis alone. Surely if he was just thinking with his penis, his wife is attractive enough and he would just be banging her. It's about more than his dick, it's about love- love that doesn't go away even when someone royally screws you over. |
|
I wasn't claiming she's ugly. That's another poster. I think she's ok. But just ok. I also called her crazy cakes.
It's always the damn crazy ones, though. Guys can't seem to keep themselves away. Like moths to a flame. I don't deny that he has feelings or possibly even loves her still. But that doesn't mean you put aside everything else and just act on it. Sorry, most people have a switch in their head that would stop them before they got down and dirty. |
