It seems everyone loves it---I can't stand it.

I've seen it twice. It's a cute movie, but even kids can see past its hokeyness. I honestly would have preferred to watch a movie about the little boy and his grandfather.

My contributions to the discussion:

The Ides of March
Anchorman
Thank You for Smoking (it was OK/forgettable)
Zoolander
Bridesmaids

+1 -- this is the only one on the list which I agree with.

A lot of the ones mentioned are great movies... (well, not dirty dancing, but that is what it is... not something you don't get).

Blair Witch -- there was just so much hype when I saw it... perhaps it was overhyped and I had large expectations... maybe that's the problem with a lot of these movies.

OP here again. To clarify my intent for this thread since a few posters asked, I am looking for movies that you can't understand why everyone else seems to adore and/or the movie received critical acclaim.

Lots of great contributions to this thread...

Blasphemy!

OMG I hate Dirty Dancing. So stupid. I do not get at all why people love it. Totally ridiculous and stupid.

I liked most of the movies mentioned on this thread. (Agnostic about Titanic, but saw it for what it was: Hollywood blockbuster.

But one movie that was extremely difficult for me to watch was Guardians of the a Galaxy. And the whole superheroes genre eludes me in general. Much prefer the quirky indy films like Being John Malkovich, etc.

Also a big O Bro fan. When it came out, my college town had a theatre with $2 Tuesdays, and I saw it every week for two months. I even won a trivia contest on the movie website and got a can of Dapper Dan. However, I took many friends to see it, and it was about 50/50 for people who lived it and people who didn't get it at all. But so many great lines! Ain't this place a geographical oddity--two weeks from everywhere!

My husband and I hated it when we finally saw it. We didn't find it funny at all!

As for movies I didn't get, I remember being kind of lost in the second Kill Bill movie.
