I heard NPR interview him yesterday morning.

The NPR host was literally laughing in disbelief at Keith Elison's non-answers and evasiveness. Ellison also has an undeniable past with extremist bigot Farakhan, and that past isn't going away; Keith even bragged about the million man march being one of the best things he's done - even though that even is inextricably linked with Farakhan's nation of islam.

Elison would be a terrible choice for the job.

Why would an NPR host laugh at that?

Why oh why?

Classic right-wing smear job from the Islamophobe outrage industry.

Yeah, why? Why would a left leaning news entity laugh at a leftwing statesman?

You know...sometimes that line of attack -- attack the messenger -- works, and sometimes it doesn't.

Because it didn't happen?

I would too, making him chair of DNC + Pelosi as minority leader just cements how out of touch the party has become and guarantees another 4 years of Trump.

With Ellison, the DNC would become identity politics on speed. This is important and we should support exploration of these issues.

I would consider Ellison as DNC chairman .... if he resigned from Congress.

The DNC needs a full time chairman who is able to devote 100% focus to the urgent need of building the party in the various states. As Wasseman Schultz showed, this is not a part-time job.

Joy!

At least Reid knows how to assemble the nuts and bolts to build a working political machine. That, more than anything is what is needed now. That said, the Democrats have to stop worshiping on the altar of constituency group politics so much.

Hillary should run the the dnc.
She is unemployed and everyone feels sorry for her. I think it would be great of the dnc to offer it to her. She has died be a lot to help democrats over 30 years and we owe her a job at least. If Tim Maine did it why not HRC?

How about Rep. Chaka Fattah D-PA?

Not true. Ellison is closely allied to Bernie Sanders who just created a scandal by criticizing identity politics. If anything, Ellison would steer the DNC away from identity politics.

This.

I don't see the upside in Ellison. Too far left, and nothing in his background suggests he'd be good at party bulding.

I'm sure Reid is not interested but he built quite a machine in Nevada. That is the goal.
