Can anyone dispute the above point? No.

Howard Dean's taking himself out of contention should cheer Republicans. Dude did a scary good job last time around. Meanwhile, Drumpf's folks are in panic mode over the recounts, trying to sue to stop them.

He's black.

That gives you one million brownie points in the Dem party.

Jaime Harrison or Ilyse Hogue.

It's a full-time job.

All depends on your perspective and your goals and hopes for the Democratic party. Many Democrats will think he's an excellent choice, but I don't think he'll appeals to rank and file voters.

Joy!

At least Reid knows how to assemble the nuts and bolts to build a working political machine. That, more than anything is what is needed now. That said, the Democrats have to stop worshiping on the altar of constituency group politics so much.

I'm sure Reid is not interested but he built quite a machine in Nevada. That is the goal.

Reid has endorsed Ellison. Ellison has been endorsed by Reid, Sanders, Schumer, and Warren.

We get it. Being a bigot gives you a sense of pride and purpose. Good luck with your life.

Rank and file voters could not care less who is serving as the head of the DNC. Most probably can't name two people who've held the post. But we can count on the racists and Islamophobes to make this an issue. The ADL is already upping the ante.

How is stating facts being a bigot?

Perhaps YOU are the bigot?

Sure. Go back to your basket.

Exactly.
Ted Nugent, Kid Rock, and Chachi, among others, seem to be the RNC's must have. Give it a rest, PP.

Why? What in Ellison's background makes him the best person for the job? I can't imagine a more controversial pick from the perspective of the average voter.

Identity politics.

He's black and Muslim.

Perhaps also considering a gender change?

Ellison has been co-chair of the Progressive Caucus. Apparently he has impressed those who have worked with him. You have to admit that Reid, Sanders, Schumer, and Warren cover a lot of ground.

I think the main signal this is sending is that there is a desire to break with the Clinton wing of the party. The Clintons -- at least in their most recent incarnation -- represented the inside game. That was good for consultants, lobbyists, and the entire political professional class. Lot's of money to be made. But, those folks just lost the election. Apparently, a few of those in leadership positions want to try something different.

As I replied to the previous poster who made a similar argument, Ellison is a close ally of Sanders. Sanders just created a controversy of sorts by criticizing identity politics. There is not much ground to be gained by attempting to promote Ellison's religion so he is likely to shy away from identity politics.
