New DNC chair

Anonymous
A lot of gas has been expended on this forum about the current state of the DNC. Maybe it's time people start identifying who they think would right the ship.

This article gives a better clue as to the currently identified contenders:

Thoughts? Who would you like to see?

I would love to see Ellison get the position and glad to see that Schumer is supporting him.

Sanders is supporting him too.

Yeah, but that was a given. Schumer is a surprise to me.

I'm on board for Ellison... although some are pointing out his more establishment links, which I don't love (the Soros son, etc.)

Jeff - ellison should NOT get it unless he agrees to step down from his seat in congress.

This is not a part time job.

no - please push back on Keith - this is not a part-time job.

and #2 - anyone that schumer endorses needs to be extra vetted. We know who his handlers are.

DWS wasn't required to step down. If Ellison thinks he can do both jobs, he should be allowed.

This thread kind of overlaps with this one . . . especially the most recent posts.

Yes, I realize the other thread is on-going. I was intending a discussion about the future, not about why Hillary lost.

My point: There are dozens of bright Dems in Congress who are well-connected, well-funded, and reasonably down to earth. But with the Senate in such tight straits, someone who has the time and expertise to lead, and less of a personal interest needs to be there.

Could we please continue with ideas?

Jeff -- a little off topic but what do you know about how Trump and Schumer get along

I have voted for Bernie on a number of occasions. One reason I did not vote for him was because he is too valuable as a senator. I am concerned that the next election have democratic candidates who are campaigning full-time, only to neglect key work on their watch.

Are there folks out there that would be good leaders, who are not going to be serving in Congress, or in a gubernatorial capacity?

I can't tell you specifically anymore, but I lived in NYC and had a friend who's family was very well connected to NY politics. At that time, Schemer and Trump got a long VERY well. But no surprise for two reasons. Schemer gets along with everyone (he's a very nice personable guy) and everyone loved Trump.

Now? Who knows. Their relationship was one of political and practical convenience as much as anything, so if that value disintegrated . . . .
