HHI 300k two federal pensions (one has been in job for 5 years, other for 14 years) 401k/TSP total of about 750k Own about 50% of our home, probably would sell for $1 million now We just finished paying off student loans, now will focus savings on college and beefing up TSPs. |

salary 100k retirement 250k other investment 100k college savings 100k I started putting away $ at 31, after I finished PhD and paid off debts. DH 53 salary 150k retirement 250k shared investment from sale of earlier home 165k, plus 200k equity. DH BARELY SAVED FOR RETIREMENT UNTIL I MET HIM. I now make him max out and put in catch up. He is the worst when it comes to finances. I worry very much about it. Thank god I will inherit enough $ to pay for the kids colleges and then some. |

Thanks! Yes we live in the DC suburbs. I think key is living below our means. I feel like I'm playing catchup in retirement based since I was a SAHM for almost a decade. |
