How old are you, HHI and how much saved for retirement?

Anonymous
43 & 45. HHI is $470 but only in the last few year and one job in very unstable field so only give it a year or two more. $1.6 million in 401k, small federal pension (12 years) and about $150k in investment acct.

38 and 41, HHI $300k and $350k saved for retirement, plus one federal pension.

52 and 55.
HHI fairly steady hovering around $200k for the past 10 years. Salary slowly increasing and bonuses slowly decreasing- if economy picks up in DH's industry, so will bonuses. HHI based on one income for past 15 years.
~$1.8m in 401k/IRAs
~$50k per year combined in frozen pensions - when we reach 65.

~$500k in house sale once we sell, move to a lower COLA and downsize.

Planning to retire in the next 5-10 years. Youngest child should be out of undergrad school in 5 years.

32 years old, 57k annual salary, 25k in my 401k. Some of these responses are crazy huge.

33, HHI is around $200k, I have $0 saved for retirement and DH just drained $60k from his 401(k) for the down payment on our new house (he'll pay it back with what we make back on selling our current house). So yeah, great shape, huh.

Ugh. Just to make others feel better...31 and 34, hhi around 65k, about 40k in traditional IRAs. Neither of us has ever had a job with retirement benefits. HHI will go up a bit this year but even 15% will be hard to save.

Thanks PP. I'm the $0 retirement poster. DH keeps saying we'll open a Roth or something for me, don't enroll in my workplace's package because they don't match, but I don't see it happening. I just got a 20% raise and already every dollar is somehow diverted somewhere critical that is not my retirement fund.

43 and 41
HHI: @$200k
401k: around $550k
2 pensions, one frozen at $1600/month and another still going, but anticipated to freeze soon.

We were hit with some huge medical expenses the last few years and didn't put in anything except the minimum for matching.

We are behind but now contributing around 76k (includes the max contribution plus the match) between the two of us to 401ks and should earn approx 50k in company stock each year going forward. We hope to be caught up in ten years. We also have a 15 year mortgage.

Ages - 33 and 36

401k #1 - 120k
401k #2 - 180k
Company stock - 120k

So around 420k.

Our hhi is ~380k

Are you spending a single dollar eating out, on an iPhone, clothing, whatever else? If so this money could be going to the Roth.
