Do you have a right to open your spouse's mail?

If she doesn't have your permission to open your mail, it's a federal crime. So no, she doesn't have "the right."

I have to open DH's mail because he wants me to do it. He can't stand it. When I don't, it piles up and he throws it away!

If I didn't open DW's mail addressed to her, she never would have given a second's thought to tell me that: she was dropped from her graduate program, got dumped from her credit counseling repayment program (yes, for failing to make payments), had a money market account closed for making too many purchases, since federal law prohibits it. The only reason I found the multiple back taxes owed notices is b/c they also get sent to me.

Yes, I'm only here b/c of the children, but likely to stick it out with my low libido, shopaholic wife who will not take responsibility for any of her actions.
