| Oh and btw, ever think we live longer as a result of far better sanitation and food safety. Part of that may be in knowing what to throw out. |
| How does this thread have 7 pages of comments?!?! What is wrong with you people? Get a fucking life! |
That is a such a stupid f$%ing argument, and so is the one after it. Poor people are dying of malnutrition - and in this country, often in the form of obesity - because QUALITY food is not available to them. Only the rich, spoiled and out of touch eat the way you do and then throw a third of it away. My family was fairly well-off and we happily ate my mother's leftovers at least half the week. At least my parents would be ashamed of you; yours probably raised you this way. |
r NP. Have you ever tried to give your leftovers to a homeless person? They aren't always greatful for them. I had a friend have the food thrown at her as she was walking away. |
You can't just walk up someone on the street and hand them a tupperware of leftovers. You need to donate good food to a shelter where it can be served with dignity to people in need - homeless people, women and children in domestic violence shelters. I don't know what shelters' policies are on prepared food, but it's worth inquiring. |
| It dosent matter if u are rich and eat left overs or if your poor and u don't eat left overs or if your rich and don't eat left overs. It has nothing to do with how much money you have. Some people don't like the taste of them. Or they have other reasons for not eating them. I absolutely won't eat left overs. I can't stand them. |
| I'd like to say we are all entitled to our opinions and we should agree to disagree, but I can't ignore the stupidity of the spoiled wasteful morons I am hearing chime in on this website. I wonder how many leftovers they've enjoyed at restaurants...you do realize that they do that. They are money making enterprises that would never think of tossing out perfectly good product. |
| Why has this year-old thread been revived? |
I'm a woman and I hate leftovers. I do the cooking, FTR, and like some leftovers (chili improves, for one), but otherwise. Blech. |
We're all very passionate about leftovers. |
Fresh cooked food is not always better. There are some things that are better fresh (agree about most seafood) but many foods that are well spiced are actually better the second day, after the flavors have time to meld. |
| My family doesn't have a lot of money and we spend about $100 on food for the month. I cannot stand eating leftovers that are older than 2 days. Every time I try and force myself, I vomit. The idea of eating old food makes me sick to my stomach and I have to stop. I hate wasting food and will try to eat as much as possible to avoid wasting it. It's not because I'm rich or entitled, I just cannot make myself physically sick like that. I'd eat a cup of noodles over 5 day old leftovers because at least I know it's fresh. |
I would think this is some form of OCD or other mental issues if eating perfectly good unspoiled leftovers would cause you physical ill and vomitting... |
+1 |
| I won't eat most food as leftovers. I grew up in a large family and had leftovers regularly, so now I can't stand it. I generally try to only cook enough that I need for me and DD. I'll eat some things, like soups and stews as leftovers, but otherwise I avoid it if possible. |
