Caitlyn Jenner

Jenner was reportedly considering spelling her name with the letter “k,” like all the other women in the Kardashian-Jenner clan, but has opted for a more traditional spelling of Caitlyn.

The former Olympian will receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award as ABC’s EPSY Awards on July 15, ESPN announced Monday.

Jenner first publicly revealed that she was transitioning into a woman in a “20/20? interview with Diane Sawyer.

“For all intents and purposes, I am a woman,” Jenner said in April.

But when we're not waving flags and using incorrect pronouns and so on, and are attached as "intolerant" and "judgemental," you'd better believe we're going to voice a differing opinion. So suck that up and get used to it.

So you can shout SHE and CAITLYN all you want, but you'll never keep me from stating the opposing viewpoint, sorry.

Huh? So you're admitting it doesn't affect you, yet it's also a "large societal problem"?

Care to explain how this large societal problem doesn't affect you, yet you care so much? What exactly is the large societal problem you're referring to? Can you expand on that a bit more?

You seem to be confusing me with the "large societal problem" poster. Please read more slowly next time.

I think she looks great -- but I think the teddy on the cover of vanity fair isn't age appropriate, whether transgender or not.

People openly spewed the same hateful and ignorant garbage about interracial marriage and gay people just a generation or two ago. You all are on the wrong side of history and really need to educate yourselves.

Leaving that aside, don't love the name Caitlyn but she looks great on the cover.

Oh please.

I am supposed to think this is normal because it is on the cover of vanity fair???

It isn't. it is weird and slightly gross.

Do what you want to do - get a sex change, wear dresses, have sex with animals for all I care, but I don't have to consider your behaviors a normal part of society because pop culture says so.

I won't persecute you for it but I will certainly judge you and think you have mental problems.

I think it's normal that this makes you uncomfortable. However, I think the rest of your reaction is ignorant, hate-filled, and shows a complete lack of human empathy. So that part is less normal.

If you have kids, what would you say to a young adult child that came to you and said they feel like they are the opposite gender than the one they were born with? That their whole life they felt like they were the wrong gender. Picture yourself telling them that they are weird, slightly gross, not normal, and mentally ill.

Can we go back to talking about the choice to wear a bodysuit? Can all the people arguing about how they hate transgenders show themselves out? Please?

A bodysuit! I mean, talk about ballsy. Oh wait.

My apologies for the mixup.

But there's no need to be rude and condescending, as I'm sure you're aware that unless you're registered, all posts are anonymous and not distinguishable. If you wish to be taken seriously, try and skip the needless snark.

+100

All of this! Its not my business and def no cause to be hateful. She's a person. Everyone cannot be who/how you want them to be.

+ 1 million

If Bruce wanted to be a woman and be called Caitlyn what business is that of mine? Life is short. Unless what you do hurts others, I say be happy. It must be awful to not be comfortable in your own skin. Good for her.

Sorry but isn't she like 64 yrs old? That is all photo shop. This is why I hate these magazines. This is not her, it's a computer generated model as are most of these covers but this is even more over the top. At least with others we can recognize them. We have seen her wrinkles. She is unrecognizable in this photo. I'm upset because I don't think this is a true characterization of what she looks like. Not even close. I would like to see more pics that are not so heavily photo shopped.

I bet Kris and Kompany are mad, this is taking all of the attention away from Kim's pregnancy announcement.

No, you would get them treatment, not celebrate their body dysmorphic disorder.

We'll see how many people here can intelligently approach this, and not just say "bigot," "shut up", or similar things.

Apples and oranges. A person suffering from an eating disorder has an illness. A transgender person does not.

10 hours of facial surgery. Can you imagine? Not to mention that her breasts look better than mine.

I do struggle, as a woman, to understand what it means to Caitlyn (and others who transition) to feel like a woman, esp. with all the talk of "girls' nights out" and just talking about clothes, fashion, makeup, etc. I think part of accepting people as they are should be attempting not to promote gender stereotypes that might not have anything to do with the experiences other people have in their bodies and lives.

No judgement here- but I have to say that the transformation confuses me. The outfit and look are totally sexually charged, but I can't figure out who the audience for Caitlyn is. Any insight would be appreciated.

You are right! I read about Kim this morning and totally forgot. She got upstaged by Caitlyn!
