I didn't vote for her, but I think it might be a little more nuanced than just race. He was a terrible candidate and a lousy politician. He allowed her to run away and hide and never gave her a reason to have to engage. But it is easier to scream "racism", isn't it? |
I love you. Thank you. |
+1. If color is all that matters, go to Anacostia High. I'm sure it's very welcoming to AAs. |
I am increasingly convinced that you guys are conspiring to make my head explode. You are nearly there. Muriel Bowser was an a likable candidate with several times the money and an exponentially stronger organization than her opponents. She was also a Democrat in a city that is dominated by Democrats. She ran an effective campaign with virtually no missteps. She was endorsed by the President of the United States who is amazingly popular in DC. With all of that being true, you can't think of any factor beyond race to explain Bowser's victory? How do you explain Phil Mendelson being repeatedly elected city-wide? How do you explain Elissa Silverman being elected city-wide in the exact same election in which race was allegedly the overwhelming factor in Bowser's victory (as was Mendelson)? How do you explain that Cathy Lanier is perhaps the most popular city official in DC? Come on. Give this a little thought. |
Not a fair point. You imply it was black vs white, I say it was Democratic vs (previously Republican) independent. |
