Probably low that we would keep them all, but maybe one per class. I would bet serious money that at least one if not more of the fellows were leads next year. They are some pretty incredible teachers in first grade. I try to remind myself that we have had others that we have loved just as much and bond that we haven't really liked.

As a prospective parent, I'm confused by what you're saying here.

I heard the scores came back and they were terrible? Heard from a former parent. She said the scores are not public. Can anyone confirm? I was shocked. We are at another bilingual school that is quite great, but hoping for the sake of the city that mundo isnt a sham!

Scores haven't been released yet.

Ok good to know. I took what thid person said with a grain of salt... She did seem to have a grudge.

Remember whenever scores are released that these students were not there the entire time. The real scores will be known in 2 years. The rising second graders are the true test; if those are bad, it will all be on the school. But I doubt they will be.

When (what grade) did the students who were just tested start at MV?

What grade did the most recent group of tested students begin with and why is that not enough time to get to proficiency level?

A few started in kindergarten, but most started later because of the growth. It is never recommended to start an immersion program after kindergarten and there were many changes in the first couple years that affected this bleeding edge clas the most. Maybe they tested well too, I don't know. Either way, it won't really be indicative of how the school will perform until we see how the rising second graders, who have been there most of the time with a more stable structure, do.

This comment is frustrating. Lots of schools talked about on this board deal with constant student turnover due to the nature of dc living, and folks are still happy to tear them a new one based on scores. I hope Mundo Verde the best, but just because they haven't been teaching a group of students since pre-k doesn't mean the scores that come back won't be "real."

Sorry, these will be the real scores.

Are other schools having scores come out now as well?

Oh b.s. 17:46. By your logic, we should take other schools scores with a grain of salt, especially DCPS when they HAVE to accept all kids K and up.

I thought immersion was supposed to help scores not hurt them?

How does that work? Kids spend 50% of their time in English in immersion vs 100% in English non-immersion

Our friend has a 3rd grader and has been at MV since K, she says a large majority are founding families and there may be a handful in each class that came 1st or later but many of them came from It, Hearst or other pretty good score schools. I am certain the scores will reflect well.
