Get over yourselves.

Well, you're breaking the law, so I have no problem if someone turns you in for possible residency fraud and you need to explain yourself.

Ha, so true! It's not residency fraud I'm committing, you idiots, it's vehicle registration fraud!

Wow, glad to see someone post for me. But yeah, I'm not committing residency fraud dumbasses. My paystub address is to the home I own and reside in, which is in the District.

It's not residency fraud, but it is definitely still illegal. And if you drop your kid off with MD tags, and I report you for suspected residency fraud, you will have to explain yourself.

Eh, it's not criminal. The most that would happen to her is a $50.00 citation. Stop making out to be some big brouhaha because people don't readily convert their tags, if ever

It's illegal. Could not be clearer on the DMV site:

"DC law requires that all vehicles housed and operated in the District be registered in the District unless the owner displays a reciprocity sticker issued by DMV. Persons moving to the District, who have a valid registration from another jurisdiction, have 30 days from the date of entering DC to obtain a registration. Only persons or businesses domiciled in DC are eligible for registration. Vehicles must have a DC title and current DC insurance in order to register."

Back to the topic: We were at Bethune during 12-13, I guess when that audit was done. There is no doubt in my mind that there were Maryland families there. There were several TIMES the number of cars with Md. plates at Bethune than there are at the other Brookland charter we now attend.

HOWEVER, that has nothing to do with the quality of the teaching and learning, which we found to be very good at Bethune. Does the presence of kids from Maryland change the school community? Not in any noticeable way; kids at charter schools come from all over the city, and Bethune had a pretty large Ward 7 (?) group that was bused in from the old location. It's not like charters are ever really neighborhood schools. We made friends with parents of kids that our kids liked and we remain friends to this day.

Do you kiss your children with that foul mouth?

HA - stand outside of Bethune one morning during drop off and accuse ME of having the foul mouth - Ms. MD plates. I'll try to stay out of the way of your trash while you swing through on your way to work. Asshole.

Again, 100 families at the school didn't move from MD into DC and then opt not to change plates. These people live in MD, and commute their kids in. The brouhaha isn't about that, and if you ARE that family, why don't you scream that out your window when you drop off your kids along with your foul words. "Hey b----! I was parking here - oh and post=script, even though m plates are MARYLAND, I'm only committing registration fraud, not residency fraud - so suck it!!"

Not a Bethune parent, but we did their summer program a few years ago.

Congrats to the school! When you have angry haters, that means you've made it. Great job!

My thoughts exactly. I am a Brthune parent, and just for the record not one who previously posted. I live in DC, and have DC plates. My DC has been at the school for two years and I've never seen any incidents of cursing, throwing trash or anything of the such. I know of one situation where police were called over a parking dispute, but I haven't seen this sort of thing myself. In my whole time there I have seen only three MD plates. I didn't recognize the people driving as parents so it didn't bother me. But this person who has seen 100 MD plates a day, my goodness! You either stand outside the school all day watching cars and waiting for people to curse at you or you have quite the agenda. Either way, I'm glad to see Bethune being discussed so ferverently. Must be a good sign. Watch out Yu Ying, here we come!

Following up on the lottery, in the end, apparently the number on my postcard was wrong, but we got in. Not sure what to make of that, doesn't really instill confidence.

Seriously passionate about the school for someone who doesn't go there.

You sound like a really nasty bitter shrew. I don't have MD tags. My kid doesn't attend Bethune and you sound just nasty.

How in the world do your see 100 plates? You are such a fabricator, my goodness. By the way, I drive pass the school ebery morning and afternoon to drop my kid off at YY. I live in the neighborhood and have never seen all these MD tag drop offs. What's your agenda PP?

I guess if I had an agenda it would be to be as viva max possible about the residency fraud occurring at a school my tax dollars pays for. Bethune isn't an HRCS - so these PG county folk ride under the radar. I'm bitter about a school that blatantly looks the other way when it comes to allowing MD residents to enroll and looks the other way.

I challenge anyone reading this to stand out in front if the school in the morning (not just drive past on their way to YY) and do their own audit and then come back and tell me I'm manufacturing this. I'm not
