| The only snobbery I am seeing is against people who pay over $300 for a stroller. Who cares? Do you care what type of cars people drive? |
| As if $300 is "a lot" for stroller. LOL |
+1. Mine is now on our third baby and I still think what a fantastic stroller it is. It was our best baby gear purchase by far. |
| One thing that I don't think has yet been mentioned on this thread is that a lot of these strollers have great re-sale value. I don't live in DC (I'm in Chicago) but the Craigslist in my neighborhood has a very active market for strollers, and if they are in condition, Uppababy, Bugaboo and BOB strollers especially, sell for great prices. A lot of the people you see with these strollers might have even bought them used for several hundred less than you think. |

If you're white and live in Manhattan, here's the reason why it seems that "everyone" has a $1000 stroller:

| For those who think that their MacLarens were a "smart buy" and "just as good." It's a cold, hard fact that the Bugaboo is a far, far superior stroller. Not saying everyone can afford it, but it's not about status. |
Yup. Amazing basket. |
| Kinda sad, isn't it? |
| My daughter was born in 2004 and we were definitely in the thick of status strollers -- even I felt I had to justify spending $200 on a MacLaren umbrella stroller (actually it was less, sale on eBay, and used it for two kids but still). I feel like now Bugaboos are standard issue - everyone I know gets one. |
