I was helping out at our kindergarten class about a week before Christmas break to help out on an event. My son's teacher was running around trying to get classroom ready, write thank you cards, answer parent emails, and trying to squeeze in a sandwich before the kids came back into the classroom from lunch. I honestly felt guilty getting a thank you card from her before Christmas as I hope she did not miss lunch over having to write our thank you card.

OP, OK you are a fine example of the problem in Fairfax County and FCPS. Shut the F up! Were you not taught to give unconditionally? If you were not then you need to "get it" and teach your children the same. And people ask what is wrong with these kids today? Good lord woman get a freak'n grip. To give a gift, your time or anything else with an expectation of reciprocation is really sad. I am really sad for you and your children. Teach your kids to rise above and stop your petty entitled crap! Yes a thank you note is a nice gesture when someone gives but it is not a requirement and absolutely should not be an expectation!

You are really pathetic. I give gift cards to my kids' teachers to thank them for all they do for my kids. I don't expect a thank you for thanking them for taking care of and teaching my kids for so many hours of their day. If I get one great, if not, I'm still grateful for what they do and don't care. Clearly you want credit and a pat on the back for giving a gift to the teacher. I know my kids had tests and project this week. Maybe the teacher was busy and waiting until she had time. I wouldn't want you in my classroom if I were a teacher. You probably do it to get benefits for your kid if this is how you are reacting because the teacher didn't drop everything and pat you on the back and thank you immediately. I hope you learn to be a more genuine and giving person.
